Medical professionals are issuing a formal advisory to women, suggesting they ditch the thongs in favor of standard briefs to protect their long-term health. This warning comes on the heels of an alarming spike in patients reporting genital inflammation.

Gynecologists argue that thongs can cause significant irritation to the delicate skin in the pelvic region—especially when they are undersized or crafted from low-quality synthetic fabrics. The primary culprit, according to experts, is the rear strip—the so-called "string."

Thomas Gent, a member of a prominent gynecological association in New York City who participated in the study, explained how these micro-abrasions can facilitate the spread of bacteria, potentially leading to fungal infections.

Statistically speaking, roughly every second woman under the age of 50 opts for a thong as her daily choice of attire.

So, I bought a thong, and for the first time ever, ended up with a yeast infection.
I am never wearing those things again.

They’re honestly so uncomfortable that I don't even bother wearing them, period.

Insults in other languages:

Canadian—basically calling someone a stinky little brat
Czech—something about eating spaghetti after farting
Mexican—a rope tied to a butt
Mexican—describing some poor guy who doesn't even have enough money for his own underwear

a) there's already a thread about this on the main board
b) I wear thongs once in a while, but honestly, I have no clue what a yeast infection even looks like. As for people who wear tiny thongs or skimpy briefs—or really any clothing that just digs painfully into your skin—I think they're just plain stupid.

People just skim through things way too fast without actually absorbing anything—they're reading poorly, honestly. Take that last sentence from the controversial text, for instance:

"I'm sure properly fitting underwear is no problem, whether they are briefs or a G-string."

So, by all means, keep wearing those thongs.☕

Spinning yarn on a spindle 😂 😂

I was thinking, could these be a bit risky for someone dealing with hemorrhoids? 🙄

Gynecologists are claiming that thongs can irritate the sensitive skin in that area, especially if they’re too tight or made from cheap, nasty fabric. Apparently, the biggest culprit is the back part—the "string" section.

Thomas Gent, a member of a gynecological association in New York City who worked on the study, explained how those little irritations can help bacteria spread and lead to fungal infections.

And get this—every second woman under the age of 50 wears them daily.

Look, I wear thongs every single day and honestly, I can't imagine my life without them. Thank God they exist. And I bet most guys feel the exact same way. 😁 I have zero clue how thongs could actually be bad for your health, especially that "string" part you mentioned—that isn't even located near the vagina. The only thing that makes any sense to me is that maybe some women wear tiny, suffocating thongs that dig in, but that's kind of on them—mine are perfectly comfortable and fit just right. If that's the issue, then wearing tight, digging-in regular panties would cause the exact same problem anyway.

Most of the time I just stick to boxers or briefs, but once summer hits, I definitely prefer wearing thongs. To be honest, I’ve dealt with my fair share of infections in the past, but since I started wearing thongs, things have been pretty much fine, nothing more and nothing less.
A lot of them are actually comfortable enough, but I honestly cannot wrap my head around why women would buy thongs that are way too small—the ones that just dig in and cause so much discomfort—I really don't get it!

If thongs are actually bad for your health, then they’re definitely doing a number on men too.
The only way they could be dangerous is if you've already got a weak heart.

Honestly, whenever I see my girl in a thong, my heart skips a beat for real.😍

Most of mine are perfectly comfortable, but I truly cannot fathom why women insist on buying thongs that are far too small—you know, the kind that actually dig into your skin!

I have to agree—there are certainly times when a thong is practically a necessity, even if I don't opt for them on a daily basis.
