Smoking rates are dropping among Americans

Fewer Americans are smoking
The number of adult Americans who smoke keeps dropping, according to a recent report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This study, published in the CDC's MMWR, shows that about 21.6% of adults in the United States—which is over 45 million people—are smokers. It’s a steady downward trend, too; back in 2002, it was at 22.5%, and in 2001, it was 22.8%.
