If you happen to cut your finger or something, would it actually be a good idea to put a little bit of ash on the wound to help it dry out faster? I guess since freshly burned ash is technically sterile (meaning zero bacteria or anything else), maybe it could work?

You might as well just spit on the wound 😈
Saliva is packed with lysozymes, an enzyme that actually breaks down bacteria 🙂

Is it really that much effort to just rinse a wound under running water and cover it with a Band-Aid or sterile gauze?

I mean, obviously you’d much rather reach for a Band-Aid or some sterile gauze, but what if you don't have anything like that handy and you need to close a wound right away?

I’ve actually done that a few times myself; it feels like one of those old-school, makeshift methods. I haven't had any bad experiences with it, and honestly, it did a pretty decent job of closing things up.

Of course, you wouldn't attempt this on a deep, gaping wound where you can see everything underneath—this is more for those shallow, surface-level cuts that are bleeding.

So, could you basically channel Rambo, slice open a bullet with a knife, dump the gunpowder into a wound, and then light it on fire? 😁

That’s more about stopping the bleeding than disinfecting anything. If you really want to be old-school, just dump some table salt on the wound (though maybe bite down on some gauze first). Salt draws out moisture and dries the area out, plus most of it is iodized anyway...

Yeah, if you actually hate the person who's bleeding. 😈

I really don't see any reason to put nonsense like that on a wound. Everyone keeps a first aid kit in their car or at home... why are we trying to revert back to the Stone Age?
By the way, did no one think to suggest peeing on the wound? 🙂
Assuming, of course, there isn't a UTI involved. 🙄

I had to test that theory out of necessity, and it worked—though I can't deny it felt a bit like someone was performing amateur surgery on my finger.

If you're looking to score a massive, ugly scar, this is definitely the way to go. (Though, uh, if it's on your face, maybe don't. If it's on your ass? Sure, throw some black pepper in there too.)👍

If you've got a minor cut on your finger, the fastest way to get it healed is to seal it up with Superpower 😁

🙂 True enough... 👍

And honestly, that Superpower stuff is also great for getting some peace and quiet (provided you apply it correctly—say, to a mother-in-law or a nagging spouse).😁 😉

Two-component acrylate adhesives are actually used in surgery too... if you look it up online, you'll see Ethicon's Dermabond from Johnson & Johnson is a thing. This isn't anything new. 😈

I mean, assuming you aren't dealing with some kind of urinary tract infection, obviously. 🙄

You might just be joking around here,😁 but I’ve actually heard from someone that it works (provided you don't have any other way to clean out the wound and stuff like that).

Maybe it isn't for you. 😁

Everyone rolls their eyes when I tell them how I patch up my own finger cuts. 🤣

But seriously, can you actually buy Dermabond for home use?

khmmm... okay, so someone once seriously suggested I put a little urine on a cold sore😱
And they were totally dead serious!

As for those deep cuts, I have a total lifesaver... it's super effective—you just squeeze the juice from this specific plant right into the wound (it stings like crazy for a second, but wow)—and the healing time literally cuts in half.
Now, I have zero clue what its scientific name is, but back home we just call it wild carrot, and it grows everywhere like a weed... (if anyone grew up in the rural Midwest, you probably know exactly what I mean... that prickly little thing that pops up in your vegetable garden wherever you planted carrots or parsley).

...and if you snap the stem, this milky sap just oozes out of it.
Unfortunately, it doesn't stop at carrots and parsley; it invades just about any crop you try to grow.

I honestly don't think so. 😬
Seriously, someone once told me—I can't recall all the specifics—about this girl who was dealing with some pretty massive skin issues.
Her face looked like a greasy pepperoni pizza. 😬
🙂
She was absolutely miserable about it, tried every single thing under the sun, but nothing worked, at least nothing that lasted.
Then, someone suggested urine therapy to her.
It actually has a formal name for it, too. 😁
Anyway, she apparently started applying pee to her face😁 (I'm not entirely sure if it was her own or even from a baby) and it cleared up.
Completely. 👍

Maybe we’re all just incredibly stuck in our ways and full of prejudices.

Plus, it shows up on pretty much everything else besides carrots and parsley

I honestly can't remember if it was white... maybe from the stem? I usually just crush the whole plant—mostly the leaves—so I mostly get a green juice.
And yeah, it definitely pops up on all sorts of crops.
But man, it really works, so I don't mind the extra effort at all...😁

Melissa Kim45 said:Basically, you were rubbing it on your face using a baby pipette😁 (I'm not totally sure, I think it wasn't even yours, maybe a baby's?)

Oh my god... well, at least you weren't drinking from some virgin spring in the Rockies where they only pee after midnight 😁
Seriously though, my mom always says—beauty is pain!

But hey, my mom always used to say you have to suffer a little bit if you want to look good.

🤣

Look, I honestly don't know.😁 All I know is she must have been desperate enough to try just about anything, and clearly, it worked.
I'm telling you, maybe we're all just walking around with way too many prejudices because who actually knows what kind of chemical cocktail she was pumping into herself—hormones, whatever else.

Anyway, back to the whole wound thing. I heard a story once about how people out in the rural Midwest used to let their dogs lick their cuts just to speed up the healing process.
