Well, if you just take a peek at the nutrition label on my buddy's drink here,
it looks like there are about 43 calories per serving, or something along those lines.

it's like 40 calories per serving or whatever

so you're telling me a small Coca-Cola is only 100 calories??
I'd love to see what kind of magic sandwich actually clocks in at 100 kcal.. 😁

ps: a single slice of bread is usually around 150 kcal alone.. 😒

Check out how much sugar is packed into an 8oz glass of Coca-Cola.

ps: just so you know, a single slice of bread usually clocks in at about 150 calories..
well, I suppose it really all comes down to how thick that slice actually is, doesn't it? I was merely suggesting a rather modest, budget-friendly sandwich

Guys, I honestly can't believe some people actually go through the effort of counting every single calorie they eat. It just seems so intense, you know? πŸ˜•

Look, folks... you really can't compare the calories found in water to what's in a
sandwich... I mean, a sandwich is packed with all sorts of fats, proteins, and carbohydrates... things you just won't find in water!
So... maybe everyone should just calm down a bit. 😁

Doesn't the fat from the deli meat in the sandwich actually matter here?

A single can of Coke has about 35 sugar cubes in it.

All that extra sugar just turns straight into body fat.

That extra sugar just ends up stored away as fat.

Not if you're running marathons all day long, I suppose... 😁

It’s pretty much the standard line from those "expert" nutritionists who basically work for McDonald's... they tell you to just move more so that eating at McDonald's won't wreck your health, conveniently forgetting that you actually need vitamins and minerals to function, though I guess nobody really cares about that anymore. 😁

What about the fat from the bologna in the sandwich? That's gotta count for something.

Whether it's "the same" or not depends on whether your brain is actually functioning or if you're just operating on outdated info.

Let's break down the bologna. Take a standard deli slice, for example.
It's about 35% fat.
And 55% water.

Fat packs 2.25x more energy than sugar.

The bottom line? The meat industry wants to sell you waterβ€”which they can pump into the product using phosphates, salts, and other junkβ€”plus all the leftover fat they don't want (trimmings, skin, tallow). Then they dye the whole mess pink to look like actual meat, toss in some flavorings, wrap it in plastic with a flashy label, and spend millions on commercials featuring supermodels to brainwash you. You end up associating sausages with hot bodies while your common sense shuts down because all your blood flow is diverted to your stomach. And we all know the brain needs 20% of your oxygen to work properly.

Look, I'm not a vegetarian, I'm not part of any cult or activist group, and I'm not here to lecture anyone.

Enjoy your meal.πŸ‘ πŸ‘

A calorie is a unit of heat energy.
One calorie is the amount of heat needed to raise the temperature of 1g of water from 14.5 C to 15.5 C.

I don't see how you'd get any heat by "burning" water in a calorimeter.

Getting energy from water is nuclear physics territory, not something our bodies handle.

Ennio said:Guys, are you seriously still counting calories??????πŸ˜•

If you want to be precise, measure in Joules or kJ instead.

Counting isn't strictly necessary if you aren't storing excess, but honestly, not understanding what's actually inside your foodβ€”the building blocks, the catalysts for organic processes, the stuff used to generate energy (ATP) to keep your body runningβ€”is just basic self-awareness. What kind of junk are you even shoving into your bag?

That extra energy gets stored as fat. So, go ahead, carry around an extra 90 lbs of ballast every single day to work, to the bathroom, up the stairs... Your body just stockpiles it as insurance. In case a massive asteroid hits Earth and wipes out all plants and animals, you'll have enough fuel to keep your systems going. Don't sweat it. Your heart will probably give out long before that happens.

Maybe you're one of those people living by the motto "I eat to live." Pure hedonism.

There are amino acid combos out there that hit up to 200 times sweeter than actual sugar. Calories are basically zero.

Diet Coke is better, but honestly? Just stick to water.πŸ‘
