Kung Fu books and instructional videos?

What kind of books or videos are you guys actually using for Kung Fu? We have tons of resources here in the States, but I’m curious what the scene looks like over there... Aside from the usual Classical Literature (books by Cheung, Ting, Chun, etc.), I’ve got video tapes from masters like Bruce Lee, Rick Spain, Austin Goh, Chung Kwok Chow, Leung Ting, and Duncan Leung. What are you all working with? And more importantly—who’s got the best demonstrations or schools? Personally, nothing beats those old Rick Spain tapes for me. What about you?

I’ve spent quite a bit of time going through some videos by W. Cheung, though I have to admit, he doesn't particularly stand out to me. His approach feels quite different from what everyone else is doing. For instance, when watching the first Tan and Wu forms, his posture seems a bit too high, and I can't help but feel his elbow is flared out a little too much during the transition. As for Wong, I have the "combat science" video, which I actually found to be decent. I also picked up Duncan Leung's "Basic Theories," but it reminded me a bit too much of Ting, so I wasn't exactly thrilled with it. It probably feels a little silly for me to be critiquing these things based solely on video, especially since I've never actually had the chance to see any of them demonstrate in person.

Do you happen to have anything else by Wong?

Just the same stuff you've got! Pretty much all there is, unless you count some sparring footage—supposedly Cheing has some 8mm clips of him sparring with Wong!

And what exactly did he try to hustle?

I never actually claimed that Wong was never defeated; what I meant was that I find it hard to believe Cheung completely dominated him. It’s just that, as you pointed out, every master tends to boast about being the absolute best, and I suspect Cheung might be doing a bit of the same thing.
