Mount Rushmore said:I didn't even bring up sex. I was talking about violence—murder and rape. I don't group rape under the category of sex.

Exactly... screw grouping 'sex and violence' together... as if they're just one big happy bucket.🙄..
sex and violence... what's next? 'breathing and incest'?

If there’s even a remote chance that people are gonna view Inception as some movie centered around a ten-minute sex scene (!), then we seriously need to stop airing it on TV altogether.

It actually scares me to think about how many people might take it that way.🙄

When you think about it, calling it 'sex in movies' sounds way too tame... almost like chamomile tea. And porn? Makes it sound all bright, fun, and human. I mean, if it's just about the sex, sure.

Richard Hernandez13 said:A few years back, NBC canceled the screening of the Roman Empire's Empire of Senses.

I wasn't aware of that. What absolute idiots.

Wasn't that the same time they aired that other passion-filled drama instead?

I can't say for certain, honestly. If I remember right, it was sometime around 2003. I know for a fact I was chatting about it with someone back then at the Sundance Film Festival.

First off, the thread isn't titled "Sex and Violence," it's "Sex and Violence in Film." Those are basically the two main reasons why old guys on censorship boards start reaching for their scissors.
So, why do they lump sex and violence together, and why do they sometimes seem to have a problem with one more than the other?
Person, I was hoping this would actually be a decent discussion; Person was really just the catalyst here.

Man, Richard Hernandez13, at least you were being reasonable for once 🙄...Look, the whole point of this thread is talking about sex and violence in movies, right? Do I seriously need to quote the exact title for you to follow what I'm saying? I was just pointing out how stupid it is to constantly pair those two concepts together—which is exactly what those "old guys on censorship boards" always do, just like you said.

Look, I’m sorry, but it feels to me like you’re actually taking issue with the topic itself rather than what was said. It would be a huge help if you could be a little more specific about your concerns next time.
