Hey, my girlfriend’s running a fever of 103.5. She took two Tylenols over the last couple of hours... she’s complaining about headaches, her ovaries, and her kidneys—or at least that's how she describes it—and her whole body aches. I just gave her a sponge bath, but she’s still feeling pretty rough :/
What else should I be doing here?

Run for the hills before you catch this nasty flu too!🙂

What else can I possibly do???

It sounds like you're heading in the right direction; she took some acetaminophen, which is an excellent fever reducer, and you used lukewarm water for the sponge bath, so now we just have to wait a little bit. Typically, acetaminophen should be taken at a dose of 1-2 tablets every four hours, but you absolutely cannot exceed the maximum limit of eight tablets within a 24-hour period. Please don't forget to ensure she stays hydrated with plenty of fluids—tea, juice, or maybe some broth... make sure to air out the room, let her wear light cotton clothing, and of course, make sure she stays covered. If you find that you simply cannot get the fever down to 99.5, or if the temperature starts climbing even higher, please take her to the doctor immediately.
The pains she's experiencing combined with that fever sound exactly like what you'd see with the flu...
Wishing you both the very best of luck!

Looks like the flu to me... except for that kidney stuff. How’s the bathroom situation? Any burning, going more often than usual, or changes in the color or smell of the urine?

I’m a little worried about her kidney pain. It honestly takes me back to when I found out I had kidney stones. Everything feels identical, except for the fact that I was also:🙂

The pain is brutal, and nothing touched it for me except for some Voltaren injections. If it doesn't settle down soon, just take her to the ER. They can manage the pain and run an ultrasound to see what's actually going on.

103.5°F 😲

Just hit her with some Tylenol and Vitamin C, then tell her to stay put and stop moving around so much. Why am I even saying this? Because I was sitting at 102°F yesterday and now I’m back down to a chill 99°F.

Yesterday, the pharmacist at the CVS suggested I try Advil rapid for coming down from such a high fever.
