Why shouldn't he attempt a front flip if he hasn't mastered precisions yet, and why shouldn't he climb if he's slow at it?

So you're saying he won't do anything until he gets stronger?

Look, I’m not insulting anyone, I’m just calling it like I see it. You don't just start sprinting before you even know how to walk properly. You have to nail the fundamentals first before you try moving on to the advanced stuff. Also, you’re totally misreading what I said—I didn't say he shouldn't climb if he's slow, I said if he's slow, he shouldn't be scaling massive walls; he should stay low and actually practice his technique on lower obstacles 😉 . And to answer your last question, yeah, absolutely, I am not attempting things I'm not ready for.

Mayor said:Can you ever just say, "Hey, nice job, keep training, work on those moves and flips if that's what you want to do, just get better," or is that kind of talk just not in your vocabulary? 😁I'm not trying to insult you or anything, but you gotta realize that not everyone thinks the same way you do. 🙂

Nah, you didn't insult me, but I’d much rather just be straight with you and say, "Cut the crap, go back to basics, work on your strength, etc."

what advice would you give someone who's 15 years old.

That’s not even advice, that's just a random observation.

Hey everyone.
Just checking in from another huge parkour fan here 🙂
I honestly think this sport is incredible, just top-tier moves and skills, and seriously, major props to everyone out there doing it. You guys are killing it. I’ve been falling down YouTube rabbit holes watching clips and I'm just totally blown away by everything I see. The only issue is that I have zero athletic talent to speak of, but I'm still a massive fan...
Take care.

I don't really have the energy to dig through this whole thread right now, but from what I can gather, parkour isn't a sport—and people who actually do it absolutely hate it when anyone tries to label it as one.

Nah, I'm just pointing out stuff I heard a long time ago. Someone feel free to set me straight if I've got it wrong. Honestly, I can't be bothered to go digging through research right now. 🙂

Look, PK isn't really about sport. It’s more of an urban way of moving through the world, if you want the simplest explanation possible

northerncyclist8 said:Does je'l Parkour actually have clubs, or is it one of those "just figure it out yourself" things? I’ve always thought the whole vibe was pretty sick, but where am I even supposed to start in Washington, D.C. without looking like a complete idiot😁

Anyway, @mojsije1234, maybe it isn't exactly "perfect," but you've gotta have, you know, that certain physical grit if you're planning on throwing flips onto concrete😉 I can jump into the ocean all day, but hitting hard ground? Yeah, no thanks

Basically, it used to be a total DIY thing. But lately, in the US, a few different communities have started popping up, mostly linked together through some online hubs.
So, you've got traceurs out in Indianapolis, Washington, D.C., Miami, and Seattle. There’s even a specific PK & freerunning club over in Seattle called Ri-run.
It's honestly pretty cool seeing this skill set blow up and get mainstream lately

Props to the skill involved, seriously—but let’s be real, we’re talking about one of the absolute worst "sports" out there. It’s just a constant cycle of inevitable joint and tendon injuries, right? And what do you get for it? Zero material satisfaction compared to being a pro athlete, where at least you can retire comfortably knowing your bank account is actually looking good!

At least in professional sports, you can eventually find some solace in a fat bank account.

Yeah, right. Because millions of people playing amateur sports also magically start getting paid after they blow out their knees. 🤦
If someone starts training a sport thinking they're going to make a living off it, they're basically signing their own death warrant for failure.

Look, people have been going into a sport with a solid game plan for ages—you do it for the love of it, and if you pick the right path and actually grind, you can totally make it happen!

And as for je'l Parkour? Man, the injury risk is insane—we're talking way more than you'd ever see in skiing, football, or boxing combined... meanwhile, the payout is basically zero.

So what, you're trying to tell me that guys like Tiger Woods or Michael Jordan only got into their sports because they were chasing a paycheck?

dustypanther6 said:So you're telling me Ante dragged Janica and Ivica into skiing just for the romance of it?

I mean, I don't know—I honestly suspect he put his whole family on the line just for a few fleeting moments of glory

Sure, he wasn't out there aiming to rake in $3 million, but he was definitely banking on those gold medals being the ultimate payoff, right?
