As of right now, I can say Iโ€™m the proud owner of: a Japanese teaser, a French trailer, a poster from Cannes, six Chinese wallpapers, and a handful of soundtrack tracks... (all digital, obviously) ๐Ÿ˜

So this thread is just a teaser too... :-)

I have to admit, the new Ozone really let me down... Honestly, I only sat through about thirty minutes of that Takashi Miike flick before I just gave up and walked out... Thereโ€™s absolutely zero substance there. On the flip side, though, Saurin's seventh day was a massive hit... even Sauro showed up at the Q&A himself... and Lila says it was a solid choice.... ๐Ÿ™‚

Since you brought up the new Takashi Miike... I was wondering if you experienced it like this:

" 30+ scenes where the lead just mows down random people in quick, one-minute bursts. A little dialogue here, a kill there. Then, somehow, the people who were just murdered start rambling about deep philosophy. Cut to the next sceneโ€”which looks identical to the last one, just with slightly different philosophical nonsense. Throw in some nudity, and there's your whole movie. Two hours of pure trash. My advice? skip it. The lesson here? don't watch Takashi Miike films. "...

My friend popped up in the first three minutes of the movie, but I stuck it out for another half hour and ended up seeing ๐Ÿ˜ ghosts, vampires, and this creatureโ€”honestly couldn't tell if it was male or femaleโ€”that pulls a cat with a massive dick out of its pussy while you listen to that squelch squelch squelch sound ๐Ÿ˜. Apparently, she used to be unknownโ€™s lover, and he tells her how much he loved rubbing his junk to her love poem... except her love poem smelled like absolute garbage. Then she falls into some muddy creek and he just catches her with a rock... ๐Ÿ˜

Then thereโ€™s this gross, heavy Japanese woman in a cave who has a pussy like a tunnel (and yeah, you can actually see it)... and while he's railing her, sheโ€™s whispering all these "filthy things" that youโ€™d probably only hear in the trashiest adult films ever made... ๐Ÿ˜

Next, his mother comes running after him, and we watch him stab her with a sword... she's clutching at the wood with her hands, still rambling about how it's a sin to kill your own mother, and then we see she's only got her upper body left ๐Ÿ˜ and blood is just everywhere... ๐Ÿ˜ฒ ๐Ÿ˜

Oh, and I spotted Takeshi Kitana... ๐Ÿ˜ though God knows what he's even doing in this flick... ๐Ÿ˜

unknown kills about thirty people every two minutes, and meanwhile, some Japanese Bob Dylan type is watching it all unfold while playing the guitar and singing ballads about unknownโ€™s little adventures.... ๐Ÿ˜

And that was just the first thirty minutes... after that, I bailed. Seriously, you have to be a total masochist to sit through some of his movies...

So, I caught what was easily the most original film at this year's film festival.
It was *Innocence* by Lucille Hadzihalilovic. The guy introducing her spent a good few minutes stumbling over her last name before just... giving up entirely. ๐Ÿ˜
For those who don't know, Lucille is actually Gaspar Noรฉโ€™s partner and collaborator... ๐Ÿ˜

Honestly, I don't think I've ever seen so many single middle-aged men in one room... Not to be judgmental or anything, but I figured they were all just die-hard world cinema buffs and NFT members ๐Ÿ˜ sitting right next to me was this massive, sweaty, balding guy in a suitโ€”just a total unit. He spent the whole movie wheezing, sweating through his clothes, letting out these loud sighs, and thenโ€”I kid you notโ€”actually snored at one point... ๐Ÿ˜

It took about five minutes into the film for me to realize just how "naive" I really was. ๐Ÿ˜image

Thoughts on the film?

Hopefully you don't have a baby face, otherwise those 'cinema lovers' probably just ignored you entirely...๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

I hate to even admit this, especially since Iโ€™m such a huge fan and WKW is an absolute genius, but the movie was just, well, kind of... tedious, I guess.

It acts like a near-chronological sequel to In the Mood for Love, and while the soundtrack is brilliantโ€”since it was actually composed specifically for the filmโ€”and there are those little flashbacks (actually, more like flashforwards ๐Ÿ˜‰ into the future, set in 2046)โ€”it all feels a bit too much like mere mannerism, maybe.

Just felt disappointed. ๐Ÿ™‚

As far as I can recall, 2046 is the year when China promised they wouldn't touch things in Hong Kong

And I've basically made a pact with myself to finally sit down and watch this movieโ€”which has been sitting on my hard drive for two years now๐Ÿ˜ข

Does anyone know where I can actually track down this movie? Itโ€™s nowhere to be found in theaters or at the local video rental spots. Does anyone happen to have it on DVD or maybe a digital file?? Anyone?

Did anyone catch the performances at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival?
It was beautiful, subtle, almost calculated... and just deeply, deeply melancholic.
Does anyone here have any of Wong Kar-waiโ€™s earlier stuff, like Happy Together or Chungking Express?

Man, Iโ€™ve been telling myself Iโ€™d finally sit down and watch this for ages

honestly, thoughโ€”that Chungking Express vibe is just stunningโ€”itโ€™s a total feast for both the eyes and the ears๐Ÿ˜
