My lab results showed low iron levels, but apparently only within certain compartments. What does that actually imply?
The doctor mentioned I could take an iron supplement for three months, though he noted it isn't strictly mandatory.
Should I go ahead with it or skip it? Since the final call is mine, I could take it, or I could just let it be....
Can anyone help me make sense of this? 🙄

I suppose he was under the impression that you were running a bit low on iron stores...
If I were in your shoes, I might consider incorporating an iron supplement—perhaps something like chewable tablets or even some Spirulina
—or simply focusing on eating more iron-rich foods to help get those levels back up.

Thanks, I’ll take that into consideration...... He already sent over a recipe, though he seemed a bit hesitant about whether it was actually necessary...

A glass of homemade red wine every single day—that’s the secret!
And don't forget all those leafy green veggies (thank goodness they're actually available at the grocery store now). Honestly, if you stick to that, you won't even need to touch those supplement pills.

blackberry wine and beets
plus you've gotta eat plenty of Vitamin C stuff to help your body actually soak up that iron.

The truth is, your body just isn't great at absorbing all the good stuff from pills or tablets.

I was dealing with super low iron levels, and honestly, the absolute BEST thing I found at the pharmacy was the liquid iron from Nestlé👍

Just toss some spinach into a pan with olive oil, let it wilt for a minute or two, and you're done. Simple as that.

The day before my blood work, I went overboard on beets, which ended up spiking my iron levels, even though I usually struggle with being iron deficient.

Eat more beets 👍

Don't forget that Vitamin C actually helps you soak up that Fe more effectively

A close friend of mine totally turned things around in just a month using Fhes and some MAP-proteins. I actually found some info on them here:
www.goh-usa.com

And also at
www.madware.com/shop

You can order them through a distributor out of Sweden—just shoot them an email and they’ll walk you through the process. My friend was struggling big time with her iron levels being at 1 and hemoglobin sitting around 80; once she started on these supplements, she felt a massive difference after just one day, and things only went up from there. She had been a vegetarian for 25 years, so it really made a huge impact.

So, when I was pregnant, my iron levels were just totally tanking, and even after chugging supplements like Spensa and loading up on all the good stuff—lots of grains, sprouts, red meat, beets, you name it—it still kept dropping.
It didn't actually start looking normal again until I finally tried some spirulina (honestly, grab the tablets because the powder is just straight-up gross :slurp)

Don't forget that pairing Vitamin C with your supplements really helps with absorption, but you definitely need folic acid from the B-vitamin family too!
Honestly, out of everything I tried while dealing with low iron during my pregnancy, spirulina was a total lifesaver for me—though, quick pro tip, stick to the tablets because the powder is just absolutely gross 🙂 !

If you’re looking to boost your iron levels, your best bets are things like clams, young navy beans, and fresh parsley, followed by liver, red meat, spinach, and beets—the usual suspects, really.
It seems like every other woman deals with anemia, and honestly, I just brushed it off as nothing to worry about. That was a mistake. It didn't sink in until my levels dropped so low that my body started throwing a tantrum. I couldn't catch my breath properly, my stomach was acting up, and I had this weird discomfort in my chest, my kidneys... I felt nauseous constantly, was perpetually exhausted, and getting out of bed in the morning felt like running a marathon. Once I started falling down internet rabbit holes reading about all the complications anemia can cause, I absolutely lost it. And mind you, I'm a bit of a hypochondriac as it is.
