It was raining non-stop over Boston that day,
but you were walking along with such a smile,
swaying through the mist... soaked to the bone
under the rain
remember Barbara

(... ugh, I can't quite recall the rest)

hey, that’s not really rock music!!.. but it sure is beautiful.

Where did this come from? You won't find this on wicked Dec.

And that’s why it goes:
Most often we comb our hair
We'll be coming from the furnace
I'm usually cooking up some grapes
More often than not until now
It would most frequently be
There's nothing from the Poles
Often more frequently most often
A Pole more often towards
...
Whistling, whistling at the sand
More often than not
Mostly from the garlic patch
Lowering your fishing rods
🙏

Well, redcrane28 was just continuing that whole "under the rain remember Barbara" vibe Barbara... you know—Jack Kerouac, poetry, chic Frenchmen, all that jazz.

I honestly think it's some guy reciting verse to a woman about how rock 'n' roll has lost its soul... 😁 ...it definitely has something to do with rock!

Combing away the grime

That sounds like folk music to me...

Grace
-------

your hands seem so out of sync
somewhere between reality and a dream
as I watch the city blur past
with people trailing behind us
please, just take me away with you
do everything you possibly can
oh, please take me away with you
grace
you tell me that you're free now
and I suppose I want to believe that
the streets are shimmering in the light
and your gaze is driving me mad
please, just take me away with you
do everything you possibly can
oh, please take me away with you
grace
I still love you, if that matters
I wonder if you even realize that
I'm searching for a rhythm in our stride
though I find myself slowing down your pace
listening to how you softly question things
while I simply offer a smile in return
please, just take me away with you
do everything you possibly can
oh, please take me away with you
grace

LIFE IS SMOKE
Life’s Just a Gas
Marc Bolan & T. Rex

I could have loved you, girl
Like a whole planet,
I could have tied your heart up
With a chain made of stars.
But none of that really matters,
Life is just smoke...

I could have built a house
on ocean,
I could have placed your love
up in the sky,
But none of that really matters,
Life is just smoke...

I could have turned you
into a saint,
I could have buried your fate
in the sand.
But none of that really matters,
None of it matters at all,
Life is just smoke...
Hope this one lasts forever...

Doesn't "gas" mean when something is a blast in English—like, it's a gas, gas, gaaaas!?

That’s really just down to how you choose to interpret it—kind of like how people view a smiley face 😳 or a film like A Clockwork Orange.

Actually, the way it was written, it refers to gas as in vapor or smoke... and I wasn't the one who translated it either, since I actually started collecting these songs over twenty years ago...

Not likely. Even earlier, there was some local cover version titled "My Way" that just wasn't right either, though I think Drago Diklić or someone similar recorded it that way.

Sophia Nelson81 said:So redcrane28 was basically just rambling about memories, you know, like Barbara... all that Jack Kerouac stuff—poetry, chic French guys, that whole vibe.

I’m picturing some guy reciting this to a woman while lamenting how rock 'n' roll died... 😁 ...it's totally a rock thing!!!!

Man, it's just like those rebellious kids—they always start their sentences with "remember when," you know? It's like they can't get to the point.

Kevin Chavez3 said:Nah. There was an even older version—some local cover called "My Way"—that was also totally off, though I think Drago Diklić or someone similar recorded it that way.

A few of my favorite translation fails:
1) Translating "I'll give you a ring" as "I'll give you a piece of jewelry" when the guy in *Four Weddings and a Funeral* is crying.
2) Using "state" to mean a government entity when they actually meant a "state of connection" (like being online or offline).
3) Translating "spring" as the season when it’s clearly referring to the Windows screensaver—you know, the coil thing.

In the rain.
Remember, Barbara.

(... argh, I can't recall)

hey, that isn't rock!!.. but it's beautiful.

remember, barbara

there is something about that damn rain... ugh
...remember, barbara
it rained without end over Boston
and I passed you on Siam Street
you smiled
and I smiled immediately too
remember, barbara
you, whom I did not know
you, who did not know me
remember
remember sometimes that day
don't forget...

PURPLE HAZE
Jimi Hendrix

This purple haze is just melting my brain...
Everything feels different lately, baby...
I’m acting so strange, oh my God...
Just wait, I want to kiss the sky...

I can't tell if I'm falling or flying high...
There's this purple haze everywhere I look...
Should I keep hoping or just let out a sigh...

She cast a spell right on my eyes...
A purple haze is covering up the sky...
I can't even tell if it's day or a cursed night...
I'm losing my mind over you, baby...
Am I waiting for tomorrow, or is it the end of the world...
🙂

CRYSTAL SHIP
Jim Morrison, The Doors

Before you slip away from consciousness
I’d want just one more kiss...
A beautiful chance caught in a heartbeat,
just one more kiss, one more, burning hot.

The days are bright, yet they're heavy with pain,
embracing me with their gentle rain...
As a prelude, your time reaches its peak,
and we'll meet again where I hold you close.

Oh, tell me, where has your freedom gone?
Our streets are filled with eternal regrets...
Just free me from the reason why
I love to fly while you weep.

Everyone would want to board that crystal ship,
so many girls, so much excitement...
There are a thousand ways to lose track of time, and I'll reach out to you soon. Goodbye!

Riders on the Storm
(Riders on the Storm - Jim Morrison)
Riders on the Storm
We were born inside that house,
just tossed out into this world
like a dog without any bones
or an actor with no part to play
Riders on the Storm
The Killer is out on the road
his brain is just shaking
kind of like a frog...
Just take a long break
and let the kids go play
If you end up crossing that man,
a beautiful family will die because
The Killer is out on the road
Baby, love your man
take him by the hand
and make him realize
that the whole world depends on you
and that we’re going to live forever...
You’ve got to love your man
Riders on the Storm...
