I actually didn't know that, but I'm glad to hear it, man. Honestly, it’s easily one of the best albums I’ve ever laid ears on. Even after listening to it for fifteen years, I still haven't gotten sick of it...

Boring, pushy, and totally basic; basically just heavy metal.

Well, if you think it's uninteresting, I guess you're just not really a fan of the genre.
But even if it is loud and cliché... what's actually wrong with that? I mean, who cares? 😁 🙂

quietdriver3 said:Personally, Astronomy is their best track... I’ll buy you a beer if you can actually figure out what it’s really about.😁

I could tell you *exactly* what’s going on, it’s just a shame BOC didn't intend for it to be interpreted that way when they wrote it.😁

I don't know, what fascinates me about Astronomy is how you can experience the song in such a totally bizarre way... I'm 100% sure that wasn't what they had in mind during songwriting, but I twist it to my own perspective and somehow everything just clicks...

Who knows, maybe they were actually thinking of me. 😁

I'm also one of those people who wants to grab the full damn album rather than just scraps and remixes... Spare a gold piece sir, spare a gold piece...

Eh, begging for the upper gentry, I'm not settling for silver pieces...

so, you'd say that just because of a beer 😁, man, I'm actually pretty curious to hear your take

I mean, I kind of cheated and looked up the meaning online... I wasn't even close 😳

quietdriver3 said:Oh, so you're telling me you'd do all that just for a beer? 😁Alright then, I'm dying to hear what kind of "interpretation" you've cooked up.

Pay enough for the drinks and you can have whatever damn interpretation you want. 😬

Nah, look—I just looked at it through my own lens and compared it to my own life, and honestly? It actually hits home. > even has the >... plus > the nurse and > dear... the whole thing. It's a killer song.

Look, the truth is simple: those three words—"Blue Öyster Cult"—are almost always followed by a massive "oh my god."

Not really. BÖC is probably the most respected heavy metal band among people who don't even listen to metal. I mean, Patti Smith wrote some of their lyrics... seriously, lady! How much more indie credibility can you actually get? 😁

Plus, they had that double-sided feature in Heroina Nova. That has to count for something. 😎

I've only ever heard "The Reapera," which I remember being a great little hit, though the melody escapes me now. I once debated picking up "Imaginos" on LP, but it was sitting at around $10, so it wasn't exactly an impulse buy. (If anyone's looking, they might still have it at Aesop: 555-0199.)

Pathetic!! 😢

Patti Smith wrote some lyrics for them—I mean, come on! How much more indie credibility can you get? 😁

Plus, they had a double A-side with Heroina. That definitely counts for something. 😎

Whatever. 😎 😛 😁

That’s pretty much it... I have this buddy who isn't really into the whole metal scene, but he’ll always tell you that BOC is one of the absolute best bands out there...🙂

Tsk tsk, honestly, don't be so bitter just because you were way too young to actually remember any of this... but hey, don't worry, in maybe ten years there'll be a whole new crop of wannabe indie kids that you can lecture about the "good old days" based on your massive wealth of experience.

In the meantime, I guess you should probably watch what you say, since this is a public forum and being rude like that just makes you look bad to everyone watching. 👋

Remember what? BOC, new Heroina, Patti Smith, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Siege of Troy...??

I'm shaking, seriously—can't wait to show off my sadistic side once I'm old, ugly, and out of shape. Yay.

Man, I’m out here genuinely trying to teach you something useful, and you just hit me back with some comment about being a sadist? I guess that's just how kids are these days, huh?🙄

I mean, BOC is basically a band for people who spend way too much time reading comic books...
I’d bet anything that hollowseal33 doesn't even read them...

I mean, if you want to get technical, even Blue Öyster Cult isn't really "metal"... If you look at their sound, there’s definitely some overlap, but the themes, the imagery, all that stuff? Not really. You're way more likely to run into a band playing Motörhead at a heavy metal show than you are to hear BÖC.
