Joe Dante is the man. I love his movies because underneath those seemingly simple comedies, there’s always this sharp satire aimed at suburban life, the American way, Hollywood, and all that stuff. I mean, just thinking back to how Tom Hanks and the gang absolutely wreck half the neighborhood in 'The 'burbs'... 😂 You should check out Looney Tunes: Back in Action; that movie is wild. And I also really loved his TV movie 'Second Civil War' starring Denis Leary. 😂

Yesterday, when I rewatched a part of the film... I almost had tears in my eyes... little Gizmo again, those childhood memories, my family... better times and the carefree nature of being a child.... you can't get that back.... how am I supposed to stay indifferent?...

And now, watching a movie like that when you have all these Ring lords, The Matrix, and other modern tech gimmicks... after twenty or twenty-five years, it’s clear you can't feel the same way as those of us who experienced Gremlin this way... soft, emotional, and right during the pre-Christmas season...

Watching this movie back when I was a kid felt absolutely magical. I just rewatched it and honestly, I almost fell asleep. Did I just get old? Has my taste changed? Or was the movie just special back then because it felt so unique? Nowadays, the Gremlins actually seem kind of funny to me. It’s just a movie, right? I’ve seen a few films dozens of times, but this definitely isn't a masterpiece. As for ABC, I bet they just bought the rights because they're broke and now they're just cycling through old classics, which is 🙂 🙂 🙂

It’s just one of those things. I was watching that movie last night... what was it called? IT 🙂 the one with the killer clown. It’s funny, in a dark way, but honestly, back then, you couldn't get any sleep 🙂 for a whole month after seeing it. 😁

I honestly feel the same way about how slow the movie gets, but man, it’s just so incredibly sweet... seeing little Gizmo and those eyes of his makes me want to tear up every single time he's on screen 😍

And even with all the fancy CGI we have nowadays, I don't think they could ever capture this kind of magic again; to me, those Gremlins look a hundred times more real than that creepy, uncanny Garfield they made recently 😲

For me, Dante's best work has to be "Matinee" from '93, featuring John Goodman.
It's such an entertaining, funny take on that tense atmosphere we had in the USA during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
I also used to really dig "Piranha" from back in '78. I can't imagine how that would play out today—probably wouldn't hold up well—but the memories are great.

Oh, I remember quite a bit (well, more or less)! My younger brother was absolutely obsessed with them.
