TV won't recognize external hard drive

Which TV are we talking about here—what’s the manufacturer and the specific model number?

So, how did you format the drive??
If I remember correctly, most TVs and video players over USB only recognize FAT partitions, not NTFS. Correct me if I'm wrong here.

I honestly don't see why that matters! Like I already told you, the TV works perfectly fine. It reads every single external drive I throw at it without an issue—except for this 3TB Seagate Expansion.

Right-click, format, hit Start.

Look, I have a 1TB SanDisk drive where I just reloaded all my movies and shows, and the TV plays them perfectly fine. I checked the info, and it clearly states "File system: NTFS."

It works exactly the same way as my brand new Seagate Expansion.🙂

It’s because you didn't mention that in your first post. If you had, we could have just looked up the model number in the specs and seen exactly which file formats and drive sizes your TV actually supports.

You're wrong. It reads NTFS just fine. My SanDisk 640GB drive is plugged straight into my Smart TV... maybe 3GB is just too much for it? Is there even a 3GB 2.5" external drive available for purchase anymore?? Honestly, the moment I see an external drive that requires its own power supply, I run the other way.
