They don't have a frontman anymore; now Jean-Jacques Burnel (bass) handles things, backed by Dave Greenfield (keys) and Baz Warne (guitar). They just put out a new album called "Suite XVI" that supposedly sounds like old-school The Stranglers. I caught them live back when they had that singer Paul Roberts, and it was decent enough. The guy tried his best to channel Hugh Cornwell, though he looked more like he belonged in U2—maybe not the most authentic fit, but he did his job. By the way, The Stranglers are one of my absolute favorites; "Black & White" and "The Raven" are easily some of the best albums ever made. If they toured here, I'd definitely be there.

They dropped their last piece of sludge-infused rock back in '87, and honestly, there’s no need to go digging through their later recordings 🙂
but for that earlier era, you can put together an absolute killer double-CD compilation of nothing but pure hits.

Comparing The Rolling Stones to Jam is a non-starter since they aren't even playing the same genre; it really just boils down to which band you happen to prefer, though I'd argue The Rolling Stones haven't been the same since Cornwell left because the vocals are what actually gave the group its signature edge.

Man, The Rolling Stones were in the States back in '78 😁 legendary... honestly, it would be great if we had a dedicated thread here for those old-school gigs from the 70s, 80s, and early 90s—specifically for those of us who were just kids back then. So, I was thinking about that "Rock on Rock" festival back in 2002 over in some coastal town like Santa Barbara. Total disaster waiting to happen. They were supposed to have The Rolling Stones headlining the whole thing, but the band never even showed up. Turns out the promoters pulled a classic move and didn't pay their fee. I actually remember getting an email from J.J. Burnel just a day before the fest, basically telling us they weren't stepping foot on stage because the money hadn't cleared. Absolute mess.
