Do you guys actually go to the movie theater, and do the trailers bother you?

The poll is live. Have you ever actually gone to the movie theater just to catch a trailer or check out some new posters? I’ll admit—I’ve done both—even when there wasn't anything playing that I was particularly dying to see (like 😁Knight's tale, for instance
).

No, of course I'm not.

Look, don't get me wrong, I actually enjoy trailers. Sometimes they're even better than the actual movie—honestly, watching the previews was the best part of my trip to the movie theater for M:R, for example. 😁 But I'm not an idiot; I'm not dropping $18 $7.25 just to sit through two or three trailers.

But here's something interesting. While I love seeing trailers at the movie theater, I absolutely HATE 😠 seeing them on streaming services. 😕

Man, if only it were just 18-$7.25. If you ignore those cheap Monday deals at the movie theater, tickets are already running $22-$28, and I bet once they open that new multiplex in downtown Chicago, they’ll jump to $30. Seriously, at this rate, we’re basically paying the same as an average American movie ticket. 😢

I still love trailers too (not on YouTube though), but lately, there are more TV commercials than actual trailers. Sucks... 😢

Look, I personally try to catch those earliest screenings when the ticket is only $7.25 (over at Broadway) and the theater is practically empty.

That 18-year-old thing only happens in special cases, like when there's some massive epic, maybe something like LotR, where the first showing isn't until 10:30 or 11:00 AM. 😁

...I'm not crazy enough to pay $8.25 for bootlegs...but I love them, I really do, even just watching them on video...

On a different note, I find this quite interesting. While I actually enjoy seeing trailers at the movie theater, I absolutely despise seeing them on a cassette 😠. It’s just not the same, is it? 😕

I actually started this thread because a buddy and I were just laughing at those Star Wars fans who’d buy tickets for a movie just to watch the trailer and then immediately start decoupling from China. It recently hit us—we basically did the exact same thing for the two towers trailer, except we actually stayed for the feature. We weren't even that stoked to see the movie itself; we just went for the preview (and honestly, our hopes were fulfilled 😁).

I was curious if anyone else has pulled something like this, or if we're just two total weirdos who care way too much about trailers—maybe I didn't phrase my question quite right.

Alright, let’s wrap this up—it was just me and two other people on the forum who actually went to the movie theater to check out the trailer, while the rest of the world won't shut up about it.

Man, I absolutely live for Forspän. Honestly, my biggest nightmare is showing up late to the movie theater and missing their scenes—which, let’s be real, happens way too often lately.😠

....but look, I'm not such a total freak that I'd rush to the movie theater just for that.🙄

Ugh, tell me about it! It drives me crazy when that happens. It totally ruins the vibe for the whole movie. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the previews either—I think it's because it's usually just two or three big blockbuster teasers followed by an endless stream of ads for terrible direct-to-video movies.

I mean, I love checking out the hype, but if I was actually heading to the movie theater just because of some trailer or buzz, I guess I’d be doing it wrong. At the end of the day, the main reason I’m sitting down to watch a flick is for the actual movie, not just the marketing 😛

Of course not... 😁 I don't mind catching the trailers when I'm at the movie theater, but I certainly wouldn't sit through an entire feature just because of them. And don't even get me started on those "coming soon to theaters" teasers on the back of a box... 🙂 especially when you can't even skip over them on a DVD... 🙂

Man, I only ever went when they were about to release Star Wars: Fent Menis... oh man, the hype was just unreal! 🙂

Honestly, wouldn't it be much simpler to just find the trailer online? 😕

On a different note, I’d personally pay the admission fee at a movie theater just to see a trailer if it were, say, for alien vs predator 6 starring Sigourney Weaver and Schwarzenegger, directed by Ridley Scott and James Cameron working together. That would have to be an absolute masterpiece, but if it were, I’d go solely for the preview (though I suppose I’d stay until the credits rolled too, provided it wasn't some tedious romantic comedy). 😬
