It’s honestly kind of wild how CNN will just drop a cult classic on you out of nowhere without any hype. I’m convinced this movie—which is an absolute masterpiece, by the way—would pull in double the viewers if they’d just marketed it with a bit more punch. They could have easily branded it as a "Cult horror special." Picture this: kick things off with The Body Snatchers, move into Amityville, follow up with Night of the Living Dead, and then close out the night with Evil Dead II. During the breaks, they could play clips from The Exorcist or some grainy black-and-white footage from those old 50s B-movies. Throw in those cheesy, blood-dripping fonts that say stuff like "Shocking"—you know the ones. Film buffs would be glued to the screen all night long. 100%.

Think it would be pretty cool.

Wait, which version of the movie are we actually talking about here? If you’re referring to "The Body Snatchers," then we’re looking at the Abel Ferrara remake from the 90s—which, let's be honest, was actually somewhat successful. But of course, the true original is Don Siegel's "Invasion of the Body Snatchers"... though I should mention there's also that Philip Kaufman version from the late seventies... which, if I'm being completely transparent, I haven't actually sat down to watch yet.

It's the '78 version starring Donald Sutherland and Jeff Goldblum. An absolute classic. I think they even aired it on TV recently.

Personally, I’m leaning towards the Kaufman version—it hits way better than the "original" for me. While watching, I kept getting this vibe that the director was dancing right on the edge between pure parody and legit horror. Some shots look almost like a documentary just so the next scene can hit you with that over-the-top, cheap jump scare style. Keep an eye out for that one shot of the dog (hehe)... honestly, even by today's standards, those visual effects hold up. But man, the EYES... they're the weirdest part. 😁if you've seen it, you know exactly what I'm talking about hehe

I’ve sat through both the old one and the remake. Honestly? The new one isn't terrible, just kind of mid. But that version with Donald Sutherland? Absolutely chilling. For me, the whole transformation into those aliens felt way more terrifying than the new one with all that tentacle CGI stuff. Plus, the ending in the classic is way darker and more unsettling than the remake, which feels way too polished and sanitized.

This movie is absolutely killer.

Man, I would love to see a remake of this directed by Darren Aronofsky (you know, the guy behind Requiem for a Dream). That character deserves a massive production and a Spielberg-sized budget. If they did that, we’d be looking at a true horror masterpiece.

I honestly think playing around with acute social phobia is such a rewarding experiment. It’s easily the best way to rattle people, and it works so well because it doesn't just trigger fear—it builds this incredible, heavy tension.

btw sorry for the spamming posts

A total legend... easily one of the best sci-fi horror films I've ever laid eyes on, if not quite the absolute best.👍

Such a killer movie! Honestly, CBS pulls some surprisingly good horror gems out of their sleeve once in a while. But man, I gotta point out... they’ve aired this one like, what, three times already? Same goes for Amityville 3D. And don't even get me started on that one show—not even horror, really—that they play every few months like clockwork. You know, that "Who Kills Innocent Citizens" thing. They've had some classics too, if you can call them that (I definitely do!), like when they recently brought back The Blood of Dracula starring C. Lee... then there was The Death Pit and stuff like that. There are just so many solid flicks out there, but it feels like the newer ones are almost always trash, without fail. Seriously... and are we ever actually gonna see The Exorcist on CBS??
