Flash Gordon...
That movie was such a phenomenon to me when I was a kid.
I actually rewatched it about a month ago, and honestly? I’d definitely put it in my list of genre classics, but watching it again really made me realize how much my perspective has shifted over the years. 🙂

So, I’ve been sitting here re-reading all these threads about the Empire of the Sun, and honestly, I think I’m actually kind of bummed out that I decided to revisit it recently... I mean, I saw that movie back when I was just a little kid, so it always carried these heavy little waves of nostalgia with it, you know? But watching it now as an adult, it just doesn't hit the same way at all... it’s like that magic feeling is just totally gone, I guess.
It felt pretty much the exact same way for me a few years back when I rewatched the Wizard of Oz..
I was just wondering if any of you guys have those specific movies that just don't work the same way once you grow up...

Every single Chuck Norris flick, those Steven Seagal movies, Jackie Chan classics, all those old-school kung fu gems, even Star Wars (yeah, I know, I'm asking for it now)
There’s just so much stuff I probably wouldn't even think twice about revisiting today.

I honestly have zero interest in sitting through another Steven Seagal movie 😁, and the same goes for any of those Scream sequels or anything starring Ben Stiller... so yeah, that's pretty much my take on it 😬

It’s got to be "The Running Man" with Arnold Schwarzenegger. I loved it as a kid, but revisiting it ten years later? Total garbage. Maybe if you count it as a cult classic...

"The Big Blue" let me down a bit too, though I still think it holds up reasonably well.

I was rewatching 'The Fugitive' the other day, and man, I have to say... it really hit me differently this time...😲 It felt like T. L. Jones spent the entire movie just playing a heightened version of himself, and honestly, even Henry Ford went way too far with the overacting, it was almost painful to watch... such a letdown, really, just your typical 90s flick, though I suppose I have to admit that if we hadn't had movies like that back then, we probably wouldn't have the stuff we see today...

Terror on Elm Street

I loved that movie when I was a kid 😁—but watching it again as an adult? 🙏

The Exorcist.
So, I used to have these nightmares where I couldn't get a clear look at this friend of mine who basically looked just like Linda Blair. Fast forward all these years, and the director's extended cut finally hits theaters. I went into the cinema feeling pretty intimidated, only to walk out laughing my head off.

I found Pulp Fiction pretty boring when I was a kid, so I didn't even finish it back then; it wasn't until much later that I realized it was actually a masterpiece

Perhaps I am being a bit dramatic, but I suppose one could argue that the Red Line is somewhat thin, if we are being strictly honest about the situation.

I went to the theater fully expecting your run-of-the-mill war flick—you know, the kind packed with endless gunfire and mindless action sequences. Instead, I left feeling quite Betrayed. It wasn't until I finally sat down to watch it again recently, in a much more tranquil setting, that I actually began to grasp its true essence, and I must say, I’ve grown to love it immensely.

The Fifth Element was my absolute favorite movie when I was just a kid, but looking back at it now... you know how it is...

Mostly, I used to watch those mindless action flicks where the Destroyer or Rambo would run wild alongside Schwarzenegger and his band of wannabes. Now that I actually expect something from a movie—way more than that—it’s glaringly obvious just how bad they really were...

Man... that one movie... John McClane is the lead... ugh... what was it called again?
