Atypical pneumonia... anyone else dealing with this?

Unfortunately, I didn't catch the full news report about an hour ago (dammit, I'm such a klutz 😁), but I thought I heard something along the lines of a sub-virus appearing for which there’s no cure, and that some scientists—maybe in Germany?—think this outbreak isn't just a coincidence. Something like that, anyway. 🙄

The only thing I don't get is why specifically from Asia... and who on earth is running experiments over there 😕

Nature handles engineering far more frequently and successfully than we ever will. 🙂 Honestly, I have no clue if this is happening naturally or if humans had a hand in it, but I'm inclined to side with the good Biochemist. 😁

Then again, there are definitely labs running in Asia: China, Korea... we simply don't know enough about what any of them are actually working on.
(For instance, did you know they have Ebola in Novosibirsk? I saw photos, and it's quite a beautiful sight 🙂 )

Around noon yesterday, the infectious disease ward at the local General Hospital admitted a patient suspected of having atypical pneumonia, specifically a severe case of acute respiratory syndrome. This is the kind of pneumonia that has already claimed lives over in Asia. Even though the doctors here suspect this might be the case, they haven't officially confirmed if this is the first instance of such an illness appearing in America. The patient is a merchant mariner who returned from China six days ago; he spent several days working the route between Frankfurt and Shanghai before his health issues started surfacing about four days ago.

But Nancy Cook61, the real thing to keep in mind is that they haven't actually confirmed it's an atypical pneumonia yet. They did mention his family has been dealing with the flu, so there's a chance it's just that, though since he arrived from China, the hospital decided to admit him for observation just to be safe. Now we just have to wait and see what the results show, but I think we should try not to panic before we know for sure. 🙂

I was simply repeating what was being reported on the news
But why all this sudden panic?
I honestly don't see any reason to start worrying just yet
If things are meant to happen, then they will happen when the time comes, right?
There really is no need for anyone to panic🙂

But I find myself agreeing that if certain things are meant to happen, they will happen regardless of whether we end up living in the middle of nowhere with the Eskimos.😁

I find myself somewhat longing for a bit of time among the Eskimos...

A separate study involving 278 pigeons found the infection rate to be 15.8 percent. "Don't get me wrong, I love birds; I've dedicated my life to them. But I care about people more, and my priorities are clear. We need to bring the pigeon population in this city down to a manageable level—either through treatment or sterilization," Dr. mazia states firmly.

Around my neighborhood, they’re practically everywhere—it's like they've taken over,
I mean, when people start feeding them, of course their numbers skyrocket. It’s almost fascinating to watch, really; if you happen to be eating something outside, they just hover there waiting for a handout. Honestly, if you've got some scraps, you might as well share them with the dogs, the cats, and the pigeons too... sometimes you end up with quite the little entourage following you right to your front door...

Now, I wouldn't call myself a bird lover or anything, but I remember people talking about that weird respiratory outbreak a few years back. There was this whole situation where folks in an apartment complex caught something through the ventilation system from a bird—and instead of catching the bird for testing before taking such drastic measures, there was this massive craze of letting birds fly free. It's much easier to mourn a creature after the fact, isn't it? It almost felt like people were suggesting I should get rid of my dogs just to be safe, lest we catch something from them as well.🙄

Pigeons are nothing more than flying rodents. We need to eradicate them all, including the grandmothers who feed them...

So, some flying rat decided to take a dump on me this Saturday.😁
It absolutely trashed my shoulder...😠 I was pretty buzzed, so I honestly don't even remember how I cleaned it up... But I’m fairly certain I grabbed a slice of pizza right after. And I didn't wash my hands... Hopefully, I just ran into one of those 6%ers.😁

Well, there isn't much choice in the matter, really—
The moment I step outside, they start transforming into little agents of chaos. My youngest is still in the stroller, so she isn't quite at that stage of sprinting after everything in sight yet—though, once she hits that running phase, I suspect I'll be facing some real challenges
And don't even get me started on when I head out for a walk with the dog; they'll just bolt right after him—though, strangely enough, they always seem to find their way back to me. They've become quite fearless lately, haven't they?
