Locked out of my computer: Help with password recovery!

Yeah... newer motherboards have dedicated jumpers (ugh, I can't stand this overly complicated technical jargon they try to push on us 😁) specifically for CMOS (which doesn't actually reset the BIOS, it just clears the CMOS where the settings live) or for clearing the password...
Just pull the jumper (or toggle it, depending on your board), fire up the PC... once it boots, put the jumper back exactly how it was, and you're good to go. That should definitely work... 😉 🙂

So, here we go... My laptop finally came back from the repair shop today. It wouldn't boot up—basically a total meltdown with Windows Vista—but now I’ve hit a new wall. The password I've used religiously for five years? Suddenly invalid. "Username or password incorrect." Every single time. I tried booting into Safe Mode, but it just loops me right back to the same login screen.🙄Is it even possible they messed with my credentials? They didn't ask for my password, and they certainly didn't mention changing anything. It isn't a case of me forgetting it, trust me.🙂
🤷What’s the move here? Anyone got an idea?

Give them a call and ask
or just try using 0000

They shouldn't have even needed to do that if they had just gone ahead with the reinstall right away
