Mercedes-AMG or IMDb?

Do you guys use AllMovie or IMDb? Which one do you think is better and why?
Am I wrong to think that on IMDb, ratings are strictly from viewers? Like, some kid who watched Spy Kids ten times is gonna give it a perfect ten.🙄I personally lean more toward Mercedes-AMG... anyone else have a good movie site to recommend?

You can't just rely on one single rating system for everything. [I've learned that the hard way.] Personally, I find that IMDb offers much more depth, providing all those essential details you need for any given movie, whereas Mercedes-AMG tends to focus more on the technical specifications. There’s value in every site, really. For my own routine, I usually check out Rotten Tomatoes as well, and once I've done that, I feel like I have a complete picture of what to expect from a film. There are plenty of other decent movie sites out there, but if you ask me, these three are basically the gold standard.

I personally prefer using IMDb, though I’ll occasionally jump over to Mercedes-AMG.
On IMDb, you can technically vote ten times if you create ten different accounts, but I don't think many people actually bother with that. Even if someone tries to rig the system by giving a great rating ten times, someone else could just counter it with ten bad ones. Once you run all that through the formula—adding quantiles and rejecting squared losses—it all evens out anyway.😁
Beyond that, you really have to look at the age demographics and see how many votes are coming from outside the USA. If those factors aren't aligned perfectly, a movie might end up looking much worse than it actually is.😁
In my opinion, you just need to find one solid critic whose taste actually matches yours.

The absolute gold standard for finding a decent flick: you hunt down a title on IMDb, and then—this is the crucial part—you immediately dive into the external reviews to cross-reference everything against those established, high-authority critic sites...😁

As for the ratings, I never just take them at face value. I usually factor in age and sometimes gender to find my own middle ground.

I look at the scores too, but honestly, they aren't some perfect yardstick, right? Because let's be real—sometimes total flops end up with high ratings while actual masterpieces get trashed, and vice versa! But then, other times, the scores are spot on, and I'll find myself giving a movie the exact same rating as the rest of the crowd over on IMDb.

Honestly though, those ratings there just aren't doing anything for me, and I can't really see why anyone would actually care about them.

I find myself scrolling straight down to the reviews instead, because if they're actually well-argued, that's where the real value is. Not that I even need IMDb to tell me whether a movie is worth my time or not.
