Can someone please explain why my thread got locked? Like, why is it against the rules to talk about crimes committed by asylum seekers?

I haven't seen any actual debate. All I've seen is the verdict. And it wasn't just aimed at those three, but at everyone involved. People are saying things like "they have no place in our society," "they need to be isolated far away from populated areas," "they shouldn't be allowed to walk freely through Washington, D.C.," "we should bring back the death penalty," "they're terrorists, rapists, and cannibals," and so on. Honestly, for that kind of nonsense, you might as well head straight to Stormfront.

For those of you actually paying attention here, the real issue we need to be discussing is whether asylum seekers should just be allowed to wander around wherever they please without any oversight at all.

You're totally twisting my words to suit your own agenda! Like, 99% of the time, American courts rule that these people don't belong in American society and just deport them back where they came from. I was asking a serious question—why would people who the courts are literally kicking out of the country be allowed to just wander around town while waiting for their sentencing? Clearly, some of them are dangerous to the public.
And you didn't even let there be a discussion, you just shut the whole thread down immediately.
Most of them wouldn't even get a visa if they tried at an American embassy, but once they cross the border illegally and claim asylum, all that should be ignored, right?
So they can just stroll through the city then? Doesn't matter who they are or where they're from?

You aren't starting this thread to actually discuss crimes potentially committed by asylum seekers; you're just using those incidents as an excuse for your xenophobic and racist outbursts.

Seriously, point out one single sentence in this thread that was actually racist? I haven't mentioned race or religion once.

If I messed up at all, maybe it's because I didn't explicitly say "asylum seekers suspected of rape," but honestly, they should have just renamed the thread instead of locking it!

Look, you can delete this whole thing and start over if you want. All I care about is talking about what happened, the policies toward asylum seekers, and how that asylum center is in such a terrible location.

It’s funny how things work. When an American commits a crime, people feel perfectly fine using generalizations, spreading hate, and jumping to conclusions. But the moment an asylum seeker is involved, everyone suddenly decides the conversation is closed and shuts the whole thing down immediately.

Ryan Vaughn7, would you honestly tell a victim of assault to go reach out to Stormfront for help?

Ryan Vaughn7 said:That victim reached out to the one person she actually needed help from, while you clearly don't give a damn about her.

You might be a supermoderator, but you should probably watch your language.
Maybe we need a new rule here:Quod licet Iovi, non licet bovi Basically, what’s allowed for Ryan Vaughn7 isn't allowed for the rest of us mere mortals on this forum.

We are talking about a girl who was raped by Moroccans. They took her to a hotel and the whole group jumped her. It seems you have zero empathy for a rape victim.
How is it possible that asylum seekers are just wandering freely around the city? The American government is responsible for this rape.
This is a political issue. It isn't just about the assault; it's about the asylum seekers. If their movement had been restricted, this nineteen-year-old wouldn't have been attacked. In what other countries can asylum seekers walk through cities completely unchecked? In what other countries can asylum seekers stay in hotels for free at the taxpayers' expense?
This is primarily a political question.

Let’s take a breather here. I’m with you on the idea that America needs to tighten things up regarding asylum seekers. I actually saw one guy over in my neck of the woods—I live out in the suburbs of Chicago—just sitting in a parking lot with three wooden dolls, probably trying to hawk them or something. 🤷I'm completely lost.

Look, to be fair about the whole situation, we have to look at the facts. According to The Washington Post, they met up with the girl in downtown Washington, D.C., before convincing her to head out to Dugava. Right now, all three of them are registered as asylum seekers at the local asylum center.

I’m with you—politics always turns everything into a circus. I just don't get how three random guys, regardless of their background, manage to talk a 19-year-old girl into going with them. If we're talking about solicitation, then it makes sense, but if not, the math isn't mathing. Plus, we don't even know what actually went down yet. It would be smarter to wait for an official report from the police before jumping to conclusions about whether any assault even occurred.

I'm with you—we really need to start talking about the influx of asylum seekers now, because those numbers aren't going down anytime soon.

Yeah, exactly. I'll add more. According to USA Today, there are some asylum seekers out there who will try just about anything to make sure they don't get sent back home. It’s like they’re either plotting crimes together or they're already in cahoots with their victims. "If that's actually what's going on here, then it's honestly pretty grim," one of the neighbors living near the local asylum center remarked. Honestly, people just need to put in a little effort and actually read up on things.

I want to go on record opposing the moderator Ryan Vaughn7’s attempt to shut down any talk regarding how we handle asylum seekers here in America.

In my view, blocking Americans from voicing their opinions on massive issues that actually impact our lives feels a lot like totalitarianism—I honestly don't know what else you'd call silencing a debate on topics this significant.

If someone says something out of line, fine, just delete that specific post. But as far as I can see, this whole topic is way too important to be treated as some forbidden subject that we aren't allowed to discuss.

I have much more experience with her than you guys do. So, I’m not going to use what happened to her just to troll people like my colleague above, nor am I going to exploit her situation to fuel political agendas or xenophobia.

And who exactly is stopping you—or anyone else, for that matter—from starting a discussion about the asylum seeker situation here in America? I’m not talking about just three Moroccans and one little girl. I mean the whole issue. All of them.

The issue isn't whether I want to start my own thread, it's about why you shut down an existing one. And why on earth shouldn't we be allowed to talk about a specific case?

Aside from that final point, everything else here is just people in America sharing their own views—some folks feel one way, others feel completely different. But at the end of the day, they have every right to say what’s on their minds, whether you agree with them or not. I don't see how you, as a moderator, can step in and ban discussions about the death penalty or where asylum seekers should be housed. My only real gripe is that the last claim is premature until there's an actual court ruling.

You said:
They're "not fit for society," "should be isolated far from residential areas," "shouldn't be allowed to wander freely through Washington, D.C.," "we need the death penalty," "they're terrorists, rapists, and cannibals," and so on.

According to him, when you deal with someone claiming to be a "fighter for all minority rights in America," you often get the impression that you aren't even allowed to utter a single word of criticism—or even engage in a decent debate—regarding certain specific groups here in the States.
It would all be wonderful if he applied that same level of passion and clarity to "seeking justice" for every group, rather than just focusing on one or two.

That’s why some people find his moderation in the Politics section a bit tragicomic; his bias is just too obvious. Unlike the other moderators over there who actually maintain some objectivity and don't act as arrogant as he does.

Alright, let's take a step back and look at the facts.
"Asylum seekers raped a girl in Washington, D.C." Right out of the gate, this thread is being built on misinformation. There’s zero confirmation here that any asylum seekers actually committed a rape. We're talking about a report, not a conviction.

Moving on.

"It's happening just like I warned in the asylum thread about the suburbs—asylum seekers are starting to commit serious crimes." Nowhere in the link provided at the start of this thread is it confirmed that these individuals committed a major crime. In fact, if you actually read the headline:"Washington, D.C.: Moroccans detained on suspicion of raping a girl." Somehow, we've jumped from mere suspicion to a proven crime.

To address the question:

"Why are these people walking freely through our cities? Why aren't they locked up under supervision?" The answer is pretty straightforward because the Department of Homeland Security website states: "An asylum seeker has the right to reside in the United States from the day they file their application until the process is complete, which allows the asylum seeker freedom of movement throughout the entire territory of the United States, except in cases prescribed by law where movement may be restricted. After filing an asylum application, the asylum seeker is issued an ID card that serves as proof of their right to reside in the United States."

And finally:
"How many more women have to be raped before something is done?" I'm asking myself the same thing. But honestly, this specific incident has nothing to do with the status of asylum seekers.

Look, if you want to talk about the broader issues regarding asylum seekers or the potential challenges the US might face due to migration surges, we can start a new thread for that. But this particular thread was closed for a reason, and it's staying closed.
