Alright, let's talk about those Hollywood faces—mostly actors and directors—who hit it big with maybe one or two recognizable movies, but spent the rest of their careers drifting through B-movies, low-budget TV flicks, or just tiny cameos in bigger productions.

Take, for instance,
Sam J. Jones. He landed that lead role in Flash Gordon, but after that? It was just bits and pieces here and there, mostly cheap action flicks.

Then there's Brian Bosworth. His big debut was Stone Cold back in '91. Honestly, it was a total disaster at the box office and critics absolutely tore it apart, but you know how it goes—it actually became a bit of a cult classic for fans of old-school B-action, right up there with those cheesy flicks from Seagal, Van Damme, Lundgren, or Chuck Norris. Everything he did after that? Pretty much totally forgotten.

Thinking about Berenger and Hauer—man, Hauer's a total legend, though.

Yeah, Eric Bogosian is another solid shout. He totally killed it in that lead role in Stone's *Talk Radio* back in '88—then he went on to do *Pretender* before eventually hitting even higher peaks😁

That one actor who played the Flash in the only movie they've made about that DC superhero.

Even Superman—Christopher Reeve basically defined that role... sure, actors take on other parts, but those projects usually aren't labeled "blockbusters," so they just don't get the same traction...

Wait, how have we not talked about George Lazenby yet? Seriously, the guy is basically the definition of cinematic OHW. Mad respect to anyone who can actually name another one of his movies besides OHMSS without having to pull up IMDb. 😁

🙂 Look, I wouldn't even give Berenger the nod, but I'll go all in for Hauer🙄
Berenger had some decent flicks in the late eighties, but man, he really spiraled in his personal life, and you could see that mess bleeding right into his career.
It's a bummer, though, because I think he was actually a pretty solid actor—he just had that raw, intense look about him.

One-hit wonder?

Maybe the biggest example is Christopher Reeve who we already talked about. I caught him in a few other alright movies later on (like *Above Suspicion* from '95), but let's be real, he could never quite shake that Superman shadow.

Even someone like Michael York... after *Logan's Run*, I don't think he ever landed another role that actually mattered.🤷
He just kept cycling through those typical PBS period dramas, you know? Just your standard TV actor.

And that rugby player guy from *Flash Gordon* is another textbook case of a one-hit wonder, even if that movie is one of the biggest cinematic disasters ever made.

Oh, and Mike Myers from *Wayne's World* is definitely an OHW in my book.🤷

Actually, even Bruce Campbell from *Evil Dead* is basically a trilogy-hit wonder.

The duo Joe Belcher and David Naughton (had to look up those names myself, 😁) — "An American Werewolf in London"

EDIT: And let's throw in Mark Hamill, assuming we’re grouping the entire Star Wars trilogy together under one umbrella

Look, Hauer’s a total legend to me. BR, Autostop, Flesh + Blood—and maybe that one where he's just a blind guy with a cat... but man, the amount of trash he filmed... oh, and Jugger was actually decent enough
But let's be real, the guy basically churned out a mountain of low-budget thrash flicks
He probably would've been a one-hit wonder otherwise🙂

Same goes for Berenger, I guess. All I really remember him for is Platoon and maybe one other thing

Now, William Petersen (you know, from To Live and Die in L.A.)... Manhunter was kind of a bust for me😛

Man, I still think Nighthawks and Wedlock are total bangers from Hauser, though I haven't even checked some of his other stuff out yet.
Berenger’s also got Ridley’s Someone to Watch Over Me in his bag, plus Betrayed (1988), Born on the Fourth of July, Sniper, Silver, Gettysburg, and A Murder of Crows (1998). Honestly? Every single one of those is a solid watch.

Berenger and Hauer are OHW? Come on, guys... those two are actors who basically have work year-round. It doesn't even matter if their movies are massive hits or total flops—if they're in the cast, you know there’s at least some level of quality there, or at least their specific instinct for a role, if nothing else. On the flip side, George Lazenby is definitely OHW, and I'd throw Jaye Davidson onto that list too, considering he did Stargate and The Crying Game and then just... vanished. The guy had serious potential, though... and then there's Carrie Henn from Aliens, who pretty much walked away from Hollywood right after that one.

Nah, those names are just synonyms for trash and B-movies. If Hauer had actually picked better roles, he’d be in my top 5. As for Berenger? He’s a mediocre actor to me, except for that one platoon movie where Rourke should've been cast instead.

Roddy Piper (*They Live*)
Malcolm McDowell (*A Clockwork Orange*)
Frank Whaley (*Swimming with Sharks*)
Haing S. Ngor (*The Killing Fields*)
Robert Hays (*Airplane!*)
Edward Fox (*The Day of the Jackal*)
Danny Lloyd (*The Shining*)
Mary Badham (*To Kill a Mockingbird*)
Keir Dullea (*2001: A Space Odyssey*)
Wings Hauser (*The Siege of Firebase Gloria*)

McDowell is light years away from being some flash-in-the-pan one-hit wonder; have you even bothered to look at his filmography? It spans four entire decades and he’s still consistently working to this very day.

Nah, I haven't really noticed him—mostly just caught him in *Clerks* and maybe *Caligula*, if I'm remembering right.🤷

Roberto Benigni won an Oscar for that overly dramatic film *Life Is Beautiful*, but I haven't heard a single thing about him since then.

Blue Thunder, Star Trek: Generations, Cat People... man, McDowell has such a massive filmography—he’s popped up in a ton of stuff, even some total classics. Roddy Pipper is great and all, sure, but for me, his role in *They Live* is pretty much his peak...

Man, I am definitely downloading Blue Thunder. Schneider and Oates are on it😲😲(seriously, just seeing those two names means this flick gets at least a 5/10 before I even hit play)😁

Look, man, don't go blowing a gasket and taking everything I say at face value right out of the gate ☕

But from where I'm sitting, maybe there's some truth to it,
I mean, I already laid out my whole take on the situation in the follow-up post anyway.
