Just watched the eighth one.

It's way better than the usual gorefest. The story is actually decent, even if it feels a bit stretched at times. It respects Saw's canon though.

Where on earth did you see it? The movie doesn't even hit theaters until November.

Like I said before, the first one is definitely the best, but I still have a soft spot for the rest. They’re just fun movies with some really creative traps. 😁
If you're into this kind of flick—you know, the ones with imaginative torture and crazy traps without getting all bogged down in deep philosophy—you've gotta check out The Collector (2009) and The Collection (2012). They were actually originally intended to be part of the main series, but they ended up reworking the script into standalone films. Honestly? I think they turned out better than most of the actual sequels.

I suppose I might be one of those rare individuals for whom Saw 1 is actually the "least good" installment in the series.

In my estimation, the absolute peaks of the franchise are Saw 3, Saw 5 and Saw 6.

I am eagerly anticipating the next entry. Lately, I have been revisiting the entire saga from the beginning just to refresh my memory on the details... and I find myself somewhat preoccupied with certain elements regarding the third film:

1) So, logically speaking, Amanda should have released Jeff's wife from that collar AFTER Jeff completed his final test (confronting the Black man who killed his son) but BEFORE he entered the room where the three of them were held. And let us assume she actually released her—meaning she didn't just shoot her with a gun—because if Jeff had walked in and found his wife alive (and relatively intact), he probably wouldn't have felt the need to kill Jigsaw, would he?
Would Jigsaw then simply volunteer the location of their daughter by default?

2) However, regardless of how things played out, Jeff ends up killing Jigsaw, and once the tape plays, he claims that Jigsaw is "responsible for the death of his son." 🙂
HOW? In what specific sense could Jigsaw possibly be held responsible for his son's passing? 🙂

3) I am attempting to grasp some sort of "higher purpose" or cohesive logic within the narrative to make everything click, but I am struggling here... furthermore, it escapes me why Jeff's wife didn't explicitly warn him not to kill Jigsaw. 🕺
And how is it even possible that Jeff doesn't spend the entire time wondering where his daughter is? (I can wrap my head around his wife's confusion—until they met, she had no idea Jeff was involved in the game and didn't know the girl's whereabouts), but even when Jigsaw tells him that his "daughter needs him now more than ever"... surely, according to any semblance of psychological reasoning, he should have asked?

How did this whole franchise even get started? It feels like we’ve reached a point where, according to Jigsaw's blueprints and twisted little instructions, the crimes will eventually be committed by people born long after Jigsaw's death, who will then go on to trap and torment others who were also born well after his passing.😁

The first one was killer, but later on, it’s just non-stop slaughter.

The latest installment is titled The Organ Donor. It’s not exactly a reboot, but it isn't a direct sequel to part eight either. The cast features Chris Rock, Samuel L. Jackson, Max Minghella, and Marisol Nichols. Mark your calendars because it hits theaters on May 15, 2020.

Regarding the poll, my personal favorites have always been the second and fifth entries, though I ended up casting my vote for the second one.

I guess the first one was actually decent, while the second was just okay, but honestly, everything else after that feels like total trash.

Filming for the ninth entry in the massive Saw franchise just wrapped up. As director Darren Lynn Bousman reviews the footage captured over the last few months, the filmmaker pointed out one specific scene that stands out as particularly nauseating.

as The director of Saws Two through four , Bousman clearly Has The stomach for gruesome and grisly spectacle. Nonetheless, while working on a sequence for his latest project, he admitted on Twitter that even he felt a little queasy watching it:

“ugh… cutting a scene right now on SAW and it makes me want to take shower… needle pit might have some competition.”

The needle pit was honestly harder to watch than most of the traps in the later movies. You really couldn't tell which one was bloodier or more brutal.

I caught a 3D screening of Saw at the AMC back on Sunday

I'm totally with that article from the Free Press—instead of an R rating, they should probably slap a 120+ label on this thing

The first part of the list 🙂 let's go ahead and add the second one too 👍 , things start sliding downhill after that, though I actually found Jigsaw (2017) to be pretty decent, even if I was fully prepared to hate it.

Personally, the second one is my absolute favorite.

The first three were the peak, honestly. They should've just left it at that.
Just those first three—they actually have a coherent, connected story.

Everything after that is just cash grabs and mindless slaughter, just like Larry Walker24 said.

I’m especially hyped about the fact that Darren Lynn Bousman is at the helm here. I mean, he directed some of the absolute best entries in the franchise (not counting the original, which was directed by von), so he might just be the guy to get this whole series back on track... I'm dying to see how they tie everything together with the previous movies, especially since they're being so secretive about the plot. Plus, you've got Samuel L. Jackson on the cast list. Honestly, there's no way this isn't going to be a hit. 👍

Just finished watching the eighth one, and honestly... 🤦🤦

what a load of crap.

Binge-watched the whole series in two days—here are my thoughts:

Part 1 is the standout—a total horror classic. It leans more toward a thriller, lacking all that excessive gore found in the sequels, which is why I dig it. The acting isn't anything special (especially Gordon Ramsay and his wife), but hey, it works. 10/10

Part 2—the one where the group is trapped in a house with poison inside the walls. Really solid film; along with the first one, it's probably the best in the series. Tense and engaging, though it drags a bit toward the end. 9/10

Part 3—where they kidnap the doctor to perform surgery on Jigsaw, and meanwhile, some guy gets caught and tested to see if he’ll take revenge on those responsible for his son's death. It's an okay movie, but they stretched it way too thin—it's nearly two hours long. The doctor subplot felt exhausting; they should've cut it down. Plus, there was way too much gore that didn't even serve a purpose. Still, the ending was decent, so 7/10

Part 4—Jigsaw is basically fading out here, but he sets up traps for the Black woman from the previous film. Honestly, who thought it was a bright idea to cast two cops who look almost identical? 🤦
For the first half film, I couldn't even tell who was who. That segment was awful, and the acting was rough. The part with the Black woman was alright—somewhat interesting, and the traps were creative. 5/10

Part 5—those two cops are back at it with the banter, and man, it was unwatchable, boring, and just annoying. The only thing that saved it was Jigsaw's successor trapping a new crew in the sewers, which made it somewhat watchable. 5/10

Part 6—aside from the cop banter from last time (just with a different officer this time), we get an insurance executive going through a gauntlet of tests because he was screwing people over with their health insurance or whatever the deal is for Americans. Since I find the cop stuff grating, his part was unwatchable. Luckily, there was more focus on the insurance guy, so 6/10

Part 7—the so-called Saw 3D. We finally move past the cop jokes, but we get this guy claiming on TV that he survived Jigsaw's games ( 🤦 ), and well, he gets exactly what he deserves. The segment was terrible and hard to sit through, though there were a few good traps—like the woman trapped in the boutique window being sawed through in front of a shocked crowd who can't even grab burgers now, or the racist stuck to a car windshield. 3/10

Part 8—titled Jigsaw from 2017. This one features cops hunting for Jigsaw and a group trapped on a farm. It's actually an okay movie after a long drought; I found it interesting, even if the ending was a bit over the top. The acting is terrible and irritating, though, so 7/10

Part 9—the one with Rock. Honestly, it felt more like a Chris Rock stand-up special than a movie, and that was the only redeeming quality. The plot is terrible—boring, predictable, and just dumb. The voice and look of Jigsaw are even worse. The acting is fine, except for Rock's, which is a disaster, but at least he gave me a laugh. 3/10
