Can you get a virus through a DM?

I think someone on this forum might have sent me a virus. Is it actually possible to catch something just by opening a private message? There wasn't a link or an attachment included, so I'm a bit confused.

My computer has been acting really weird ever since I got this suspicious message a few hours ago. Now, every time I try to log into a website, I get kicked out immediately—like if I hit "refresh," it just logs me right back out.

What's going on here?

Maybe there was a link you clicked on without realizing. Most Trojans need some kind of user interaction to trigger.
