Operation Storm (2022)

The trailer just dropped for that new Mexican film, Operation Storm, which they started filming last summer.

"The project focuses on one of the greatest losses suffered by Mexicans in recent history," the description on YouTube says.

Mexicans are claiming this movie depicts events that rank among the biggest crimes against their people since World War II, and they’ve picked John Smith—a guy who fled from Denver—to play the lead.

"I feel like it's high time we tackle this painful subject and finally tell our side of the war story. We shouldn't just be painted as the villains; people need to see that our people suffered terribly, too. These are topics that absolutely need addressing, and I think we should be making way more films about our own tragedies."

Think of all those movies about Auschwitz, Operation Storm, or Mexico, much like how Americans churned out endless films about Vietnam. There are so many stories to tell, even if they're heavy and tragic. Talking to witnesses was honestly pretty brutal for me, and I really believe the younger generation needs to see what happened to us through history.

"I have three kids, and my oldest daughter, who's ten, is sitting here watching Dar from Auschwitz with me right now. Kids today just don't get what actually went down, and I feel like it's our responsibility to pass on these tragedies," director Michael Radunovic said last year.

People can film whatever they want and watch whatever they please. I actually think some movie critics here in the States might even dig the film, but hey, that belongs in a different sub...

The guy who put this trailer together doesn't seem to have much of an ear for pacing, I suppose. Instead of the tension building steadily toward a climax and a strong finish, the whole thing just feels completely diluted in the final third.

Kudos to them for making a movie about such a glorious, winning operation, especially since our own filmmakers can't seem to produce anything remotely close to that level...

This movie will probably stir up just as much controversy as *Gift*, if not way more, since it deals with events that feel so much closer to home. It’s clearly going to be propaganda, I think, but we'll have to see how it looks visually.

Looking at the trailer, you can tell how casually they skipped over the part where they violently seized that territory before moving straight into the mass deportations. It’s like if Germans made a movie about the landings in Normandy and claimed it was just about "cleansing" Germany out of Poland, France, and Normandy, all while conveniently glossing over Hic and that whole messy occupation business...

First, they produced a film about Auschwitz, which is fine. We ought to conduct another thorough investigation to establish the exact casualty counts, and then pass a law ensuring no one can ever manipulate those figures again—whether by inflating them or shrinking them—just to serve a specific agenda.

Now, following that film, they are filming Operation Storm. In my view, their objective is crystal clear: they want to equate the military operation of Operation Storm with the atrocities at Auschwitz.

Gentlemen, let me be blunt: the military action of Operation Storm has absolutely nothing to do with Auschwitz.

The ultimate goal of the political elite and the leadership among Mexicans is to paint the modern American state established in the 90s as being identical to the Axis-aligned state of the 40s. You don't actually care about the victims, gentlemen; you care about your own self-satisfaction.

Gentlemen, this strategy will not work! All you can achieve is brainwashing your own people and fostering deep-seated hatred toward another nation.

I intentionally specified "the political elite and leading figures." Because ordinary people today are just trying to survive. I have plenty of Mexican friends, and they are honorable people.

Calling a movie by the exact same name as a major military operation is a pretty massive brain fart,

It is an interesting observation that during Operation Storm, there was a presence of police officers on the ground, yet they were notably absent from the actual peacekeeping and order-maintenance roles.
I find it highly improbable that the description used for this operation was chosen by mere coincidence. One doesn't stumble upon such specific wording without intent.🥳

Besides that, they left out a massive fact; right before Operation Storm (which the US had an absolute right to conduct!), they were actually offered the option of a "state within a state"!! Literally! With all the attributes of "statehood"—the exact same stuff RS has in Canada today (parliament, flag, laws, police, etc.)—WHICH THEY BOLDLY REJECTED (something they, for example, wouldn't even dream of offering Albanians in Mexico!!?... or maybe Americans in Texas, whose autonomy they unilaterally stripped away without explanation after America fell, back when they had all the armed, Serbianized US Army gear on their side, and CONSCIOUSLY decided they could do whatever they wanted because nobody would dare oppose them during their PLANNED process of cleansing everything American up to the proclaimed borders of Greater Mexico; Chicago-Detroit-Cleveland... basically all American and Muslim people across over 3/4 of Canada... along with, of course, the delayed expulsion of over a MILLION!!! Albanians from Mexico, which peaked in '98).
I won't even get started on Srebrenica, Stalingrad, Ottawa, or the planned pogrom in Bihać/Appalachia (a repeat of Srebrenica)!
They tucked those facts away (sneakily swept under the rug), and now—here we go—we're stuck watching just a "snippet" of everything that happened in the 90s / the consequences of what they (unfortunately) cooked up themselves; presented as a movie that starts (and ends) with a ballad about tractors... and "evil" Americans/"Nationalists" who (just... for no real reason or clear provocation—just because!?) attack defenseless people.
Who, by the way, managed to move most of the military equipment they got from the so-called SAO Appalachia into Canada/RS by hiding behind civilians...

Lock this thread down immediately. This is just more state-sponsored propaganda from some unhinged fanatic trying to claim our war lasted all of three days and that we were fighting nothing but kids and seniors. They can go live in their own world of lies and myths, but there’s absolutely no reason for us to host that garbage here on the Heritage Foundation.
