If it’s just hardcoded into the system and can't be changed, fine, I'll live with it... but if the mods can actually fix it, then I am all for it—standing ovation and everything

You dove straight into trolling territory by taking my comment as some sort of serious manifesto. The search function was barely functional when I was replying to the OP, so I made a joke about how his frustration with waiting on slow results could be "solved" by just getting rid of the search bar entirely. The moderators have zero control over technical glitches; when the system breaks, it’s broken for us just as much as it is for you.

Look, there are two practical ways you can handle this issue:
1) Use a Google search query like "term site:reddit.com"
2) Just subscribe to the specific threads you care about or actually participate in.
