And that’s our big-shot moderator during a pandemic 🤦

If that isn't a perfect example of why we absolutely need a politics section, I don't know what is. ☕

Maybe Anderlon just received a fresh payment along with a note to tighten things up on Reddit, since they're currently pushing narratives to strip away freedoms by removing negative testing options, so it’s probably best to steer anyone actually thinking for themselves toward conspiracy theories and useless chat threads... ☕

Larry Walker24 said:The point is, nobody is moderating this thread, so you can say whatever you want here.

I'll bet money they start moderating—which really just means censoring—the second too many people join in. Once this becomes the most popular topic on the site and it becomes obvious there are more "conspiracy theorists" than the "listen to the experts" crowd they nurture in threads where everyone is too afraid to post because everything gets deleted.

If you think nitpicking is going to work here, you're mistaken...

I’m right there with you—the moderation over on the coronavirus sub-thread is an absolute disaster. Honestly, they need to swap out the current mod team for someone with a much more liberal approach, because it really starts to feel like the people running things there are actually working for a specific special interest group.

Just take a look at how differently the exact same topic is moderated over on the Politics PDF.

Alright, let’s streamline things for those of you actually interested in contributing to our discussions; we have laid out three distinct alternatives where you can continue your threads just as you would in the politics section—whether you're diving into conspiracy theories regarding the coronavirus or hanging out in the chat; or perhaps discussing legal matters. All three of these topics are lightly moderated, and we only step in to issue penalties for severe violations of the Reddit rules, which I believe you all know quite well by now.
The choice of how to proceed is entirely yours. ☕

Just 3 threads about the coronavirus being lazily moderated

Where else are you gonna go?

I learned exactly how that works when the one and only post I ever made on that site got deleted. All I had said was that I honestly don't care what they've been printing on paper lately, because I'm the only owner of my body and the only one who decides what gets injected into it.

The post was just wiped without any explanation at all.

So, save those stories for someone else.

The post just vanished without any explanation whatsoever.

So save that nonsense for someone else.

Morgan Peterson said:Alright, let's cut to the chase for anyone actually interested in posting here; you've got three alternatives where you can keep talking just like you do in politics—whether it's conspiracy theories on the coronavirus threads, the chat, or legal stuff. All three sections have light moderation, and we only hand out penalties for serious rule-breaking, which you all know damn well by now.
Just do whatever you want. ☕

What's even the point of an "alternative," when that "alternative" is just a way to funnel the whole debate into one single thread? It basically guts the importance of the socio-political side of this mess.

Politics has always been a serious space meant for looking at how various phenomena and crises—among other things—hit the fabric of society. This whole circus is turning into an unprecedented economic, financial, and socio-political crisis, and it deserves more than just one specialized thread in the Politics section. This crisis is strictly a socio-political issue, yet the thread dedicated to those questions doesn't have a single topic about it anymore. Plus, it'll mean less work for you on the coronavirus threads.

What an absolute disgrace of a decision.

Moving this thread over to the conspiracy sub or the general chat—specifically under the coronavirus section—is nothing more than a way to bury dissenting voices under a mountain of nonsense and random theories. You should be putting the people who are actually sounding the alarm about real issues
and what we’re truly facing right in front of the crowd that, frankly, pushes ideas I find just as baseless as anyone else does. It’s the exact same playbook used by those shameful mainstream media outlets—you know, the ones that report on protests and immediately slap "radical" labels in the headline and throughout the article just to discredit everyone there.

And then, to top it all off, you place it in a subforum that’s moderated with such... let's call it "unique" rigor.

By doing this, you’ve made your stance crystal clear; you’ve effectively joined forces with those pathetic news networks.

It’s incredibly obvious how the panic is setting in now that the official narrative is starting to fall apart at the seams.

Seriously, once again, this is just shameful. 🤮

Is there seriously anything more important happening right now in America or anywhere else on the planet than the coronavirus?
If you think there is, please, enlighten me. What could possibly be bigger?

Hey, can I start a fresh thread over in the Politics section?
Maybe call it "The Pandemic" or something along those lines? 😁

Jacob Williams said:What exactly is the purpose of an "alternative" when that very alternative serves nothing more than to funnel the entire discussion into a single PDF, thereby effectively stripping away the weight of the socio-political dimensions of this crisis?

Politics has always functioned as a serious, comprehensive deep dive—a definitive document, if you will—designed to analyze how various phenomena and crises impact the very fabric of our society. This current circus, however, is rapidly morphing into an unprecedented economic, financial, and socio-political catastrophe, one that truly warrants more than just a single thread on the Politics section of Reddit. We are looking at a crisis that is fundamentally a socio-political issue, yet the specialized threads dedicated to such matters no longer seem to have a designated space for this specific emergency. Besides, wouldn't having a few more niche topics actually lighten your workload regarding the coronavirus coverage?

Regarding that matter, why don't you simply start a new thread dedicated to the coronavirus pdf? You could use the content above as your opening post, or perhaps find one of those similar discussions already in progress—I know there are plenty floating around—and then pin it right to the top of the coronavirus pdf section. We certainly aren't against anyone starting new topics; quite the contrary, we welcome them.
The only thing I truly want to prevent is the spread of those various—and please, don’t even try to tell me they don't exist—insane conspiracy theories drifting into different threads and cluttering up the posts of people who actually want to engage in high-quality discussions regarding diverse, primarily political, perspectives on the coronavirus crisis. Is it really too much to ask for some topical boundaries? This is exactly why I insisted that conspiracy discussions remain in their own dedicated space; there are actually some incredibly insightful posts over there that could easily pivot into much more serious subject matter. On the other hand, you have those individuals who claim to suffer sudden hormonal imbalances just by being near vaccinated people and then proceed to find them via Bluetooth. Honestly, where does it end?
I mean, honestly, where exactly is this headed? Are we truly expected to categorize this under medicine?
If you take the initiative to frame your topic properly and we can all reach a consensus on purging the absolute nonsense, then you will find yourself presiding over a truly high-quality space for meaningful discussion. Is that really too much to ask for?

Who gets to decide what qualifies as "total nonsense"? You can't just delete whatever you want based on your own whims.

You can't label something as "total nonsense" just because of how you feel about it. Look, if a massive number of people are reporting that they're getting rashes at the injection site, then that isn't nonsense—it's a legitimate topic of discussion.

Think back to when the vaccinations first started. It was considered "total nonsense" to share actual footage of people being pressured into getting vaccinated after the disaster, yet those posts were deleted everywhere they popped up. Even claiming that deaths were being recorded as COVID-19 fatalities when the person only tested positive was labeled as a "conspiracy theory" and wiped out. Now, that's basically an established rule. You guys deleted those posts, and now we're dealing with vaccine mandates and a whole list of other things that people like you used to call "total nonsense."

We’ve been thinking about this for a while now—this thread on the Politics sub-forum has officially run its course. It’s turned into a little sandbox for a handful of users, and honestly, looking at the stats on bans and deleted posts, it’s clear this topic has reached its limit. Thanks to everyone for participating, though.

We have entire sections for this. For anything regarding the coronavirus, feel free to move over to the section. If you want to discuss the political connotation of the emergency measures or how they impact the US government, check out the threads on the US Government and the President .

Thanks again for joining the conversation.

This thread hasn't "run its course" by any stretch. We’re heading toward massive protests all across the US, and people aren't just taking to the streets for fun—you guys aren't stupid. You're intentionally shutting down a discussion that belongs under Politics because these are inherently political questions. And yeah, you're doing it in the spirit of pure censorship, probably out of fear or some backroom deal with the powers that be. I'll say it again: you aren't idiots, and you know exactly where this places you. You can only hope you picked the right side—or that you won't get caught regardless of how things play out—but that's not how the real world works. History is the teacher of life...☕

So, you guys are actually banning threads about the coronavirus on the Politics board now? If that isn't straight-up censorship, I don't know what is.

If I decided to start a thread titled "The political aspect of pandemics," what would even happen? I'd love for someone to give me a straight answer...

It’s a sensible move. Everything of substance has already been covered, though I suppose I could add that if one of those massive coronavirus trolls—the kind who operates within a protected sub-thread on Reddit specifically for the pandemic just so they can provoke people and derail any decent discussion without consequence—were to post just twice in the Politics section regarding the virus, wouldn't they be slapped with a ban and sent right back to the dedicated pandemic thread? I won't name names, but I think we all know exactly who I'm talking about.
