Slow scanning on my HP printer

Hey everyone!
I've got my Canon Pixma hooked up via Wi-Fi. For the most part, I'm pretty happy with it, but there's one thing driving me up the wall: the scanning speed. It takes about two and a half minutes to finish a single scan. Now, if I'm just making a copy, it happens in a flash. My old, budget-friendly HP used to rip through scans way faster than this. Is this all because of the data transfer over the Wi-Fi?

Are you scanning automatically by hitting the button on the device itself, or are you running it through some software on your computer?
Usually, the headache comes from settings being cranked to the max while copying stays at a minimum. How big are these scan files of yours?

You hit the nail on the head. I had everything cranked up to the absolute max! Once I dialed it back to 200 dpi, the thing actually finished in a reasonable amount of time. Seriously, what’s the lowest dpi you can get away with if I'm just emailing documents?

100-200 dpi is fine for most things, but honestly, you just pick based on how massive you want the file size to be. It all depends on what kind of documents you're dealing with. Just test it out and see.
