Max claims he lost pole position in the first sector, yet if one observes closely, his first sector in the second lap was actually slightly slower than in the first. Is it not somewhat curious, I wonder, how he failed to mention the final sector, where his time loss compared to the previous lap was even more pronounced?
It leads me to believe that perhaps Max was simply feeling a bit envious and was perhaps searching for an excuse to justify his pace.
Sergio put together a truly phenomenal lap; he absolutely crushed the first sector.

It’s all about getting that better, faster launch with those softer tires, which might actually let him jump into the lead and just dictate the whole pace of the race. And look, Perez is famous for being super gentle on his rubber, so you definitely have to factor that into the math.
