If there was a lightning strike, the surge likely hit the device through the electrical wiring or the phone lines if they're running above ground.
For a PC, you really could have just gone with a LAN card, which would've been way cheaper than a PCI Wi-Fi card.
I’d honestly never use those internal PCI Wi-Fi cards; if you grab a USB Wi-Fi adapter with a long cable, you can actually move the adapter higher up to get better range, plus you don't deal with any signal loss like you would with coaxial cables.

The connection goes through the phone line into the router and then straight into the PC.
I mean, I could have used a wired setup, but installing a Wi-Fi card just seemed like the easier path at the time. It’s definitely not too late for me to run some cables through the conduits and just swap in a LAN card if I need to.

Hey everyone.

Could use some help here.
So, out of nowhere today, I got an error saying my DNS couldn't be found, but I managed to fix that. The weird part? Now my phone won't even pick up my home Wi-Fi signal, even though everything was working fine before. Even when I try to enter the details manually, it just won't connect.
It picks up all the other networks perfectly fine, just not my own. Any ideas?

Jump into your router settings and double-check that the SSID and password match exactly what you've got set up on your phone.
If you're not really sure how to navigate that stuff, honestly, just give a tech expert a call.

It wasn't quite the same when I swapped things out, but it used to be.
And even then, he couldn't seem to find anything.

First off, just double-check that your Wi-Fi is actually enabled. It’s also possible the SSID is set to hidden, which would explain why it isn't popping up on your phone...
It would definitely help if we knew which router you're working with here?
