Hey admins,

I’ve been around this forum for a long time now. But lately, I’ve noticed a ton of hostility from users—just bitter, nasty comments on pretty much every single thread I start. This has been going on for a while, and honestly, I'm just over being a target for these jerks. I don't insult anyone. I know you guys don't delete accounts just because someone asks, and changing handles isn't an option either. But I'm tired of being publicly lynched here, so I guess I'm wondering if you can help me out? Maybe deactivate my profile or just ban it so it's not public? Or at least block my inbox so I stop getting creepy messages from people. All I want is to have a decent discussion without getting attacked personally just because I was the one who posted the topic.

I moved your thread over to the technical support section since that’s where the admins actually hang out to handle troubleshooting and advice.

As for everything else, you can just head into your account settings and toggle off private messages entirely if they're bothering you. Just remember that you have the power to report any abusive DMs or posts that violate our community guidelines.

And look, you already know the drill: we don't deactivate profiles or issue permanent bans just because someone asks. You *can* request a temporary suspension for a month or two—or longer, depending on what the system allows—so think carefully about whether you actually want to go that route.

The longest ban you can get is 2 years.

Why aren't we just handing out permanent bans upon request?

Because most people actually want their entire post history wiped, and once you do that, the whole thread loses its context and makes zero sense.

+

Plus, half of them change their minds a few months later, claiming they were "just being dramatic" when they asked for the ban, and then they spend the next month bugging the admins to lift it.

I’ve been a part of this community for quite a long time now. But lately, I’ve been noticing this wave of hostility coming from a lot of users—just bitter, mean-spirited comments no matter what topic I decide to bring to the table. It’s been going on for a while, and honestly, I’m just getting really tired of being an easy target for these nasty remarks when I haven't done anything to offend anyone.

Could you maybe walk me through a few specific examples?

I can weigh in. First, she married some Jane Doe who didn't speak a word of English—they weren't really on the same page, I guess. They never actually lived together, either; they maybe saw each other once or not at all.
Then, she finds a second partner and, right in the middle of the pandemic, plans this whole thing where she moves into her parents' place for a month—one of them being quite ill.
Now, she’s rented an apartment in a town of about 40,000 people and she’s miserable because, well, Des Moines isn't Paris. She can't ride an electric scooter because apparently she needs a permit, she can't ride a bike because she doesn't even know how to buy one or how to ride one, and there aren't any museums in this quiet little corner of the Midwest.

People haven't exactly been telling her, "Oh my god, you're so exotic and worldly"—instead, they've mostly just been asking, "So, which one are you, kid?"

Don't let it get to you. Just put Mucu on ignore and half of those annoying posts will disappear instantly.

I’m posting this here because I really don't want to start a whole new thread, but can we please address the issue regarding the user McKinsey & Company over in the political section? The discourse there has become incredibly intense today, specifically targeting Joe Biden. I’m bringing this up here so we can stop poisoning this particular discussion with their constant harassment of me—specifically those baseless accusations that I’ve somehow insulted Donald Trump's family and children.
Honestly, for heaven's sake, can someone please put an end to this? They should focus on dealing with their own personal issues however they see fit, but they need to do it far away from this forum and without dragging other members into their clearly distorted version of reality.

Good grief. Can someone please put an end to this? They should deal with their own issues elsewhere instead of dragging other forum members into their clearly distorted reality.

Not happening. I’ve already made my warning clear to you, him, and everyone else... it's over. No politics allowed here or there, and I hope I was clear enough.

The whole thing regarding unlicensed medical practice in that post isn't really my department, but...

Douglas Gray8, I'm not sure when this clicked for you, but if you take a screwdriver to your leg and howl three times, everyone hates me—that should help you settle down.

I’m not going to start a whole new thread just to deal with these mindless little jokes from people who clearly have nothing better to do than jump in here to provoke others and throw insults—it’s honestly pathetic.

Seriously, take a breather and stop acting out on the forums. You’re essentially spamming every single political discussion with this forced chaos. Don't be such a desperate attention-seeker; I honestly don't have any respect for you or that person you spend all day obsessively tagging and baiting.
Just take a break and relax.

Here are three perfect examples of mindless insults thrown my way just because someone can't handle actual facts or logic...

The guy basically flies into the thread, ignores everything I've laid out, and resorts to cheap shots—like that ridiculous post I shared where he started ranting about "wild behavior" and "nerves"...

It’s honestly pathetic...

When is this actually going to end? How much longer do we have to deal with these brainless attempts at armchair psychoanalysis—clearly born out of pure desperation since they have zero real arguments to work with?

Adam Collins4 said:Three separate instances of mindless insults—all because the individual in question can't handle the actual arguments and facts I’m laying out...

The guy who crashes into a thread just to hurl insults instead of actually addressing the facts—it’s plain as day in that post I shared, where he starts rambling about losing his grip and being high-strung...

Hilarious...

When is this going to end? Honestly, when will we see an end to these mindless psychoanalysis sessions—all born out of pure desperation because nobody can actually come up with a legitimate, evidence-based argument?

It’s been pretty much the same story for a while now—Garfield treats me exactly the same way.

I’ve noticed I’m definitely not the most popular person in this digital hen house. It seems my username is now inseparable from these comments about an Instagram profile—comments that other users just "assume" belong to me, even though I’ve never actually posted a link.

Maybe I’ve completely misinterpreted this rule, so honestly, it doesn't really matter. No big deal.
But it’s actually pretty disheartening to see other members getting caught in the crossfire of this intolerance. They’re being targeted simply because they don't parrot the majority opinion, or because people "just know" those users are actually me.

Is there any way to verify that it isn't me? Maybe someone could add a note to the thread so everyone can shift their focus back to how much they seem to dislike me specifically. 😁

Maybe I just misread the situation. This rule. It doesn't really matter. It's not an issue.

It’s honestly sad to see other people here getting caught in the crossfire of all this intolerance. They aren't even being judged on their own ideas; they're just being targeted because everyone assumes they're part of my crowd.

Is there any way to prove I didn't write that note in the thread? It feels like people are just using it as an excuse to turn the focus back onto how much everyone can't stand me. 😁

Doxxing is strictly off-limits, obviously.
Same goes for you. Even though you never actually said who you are, you shared so many specific details about yourself and your business that people have already figured out exactly who you are. 🤷

As for that second part—it's just not happening. Everyone is responsible for their own posts and the impression they leave behind.

Maybe I’m misinterpreting this rule, so no big deal. It's fine.
But it breaks my heart to see other users getting caught in the crossfire. They end up taking heat just because they don't align with the majority, or because people assume they're actually me.

Is there any way to verify my identity in the moderator notes? That way, the focus can shift back to how much certain people can't stand me. 😁

Honestly, why even bother sweating it? If they want to come after me, let them. It says way more about their character than mine. If I spent all my energy worrying about what people say, I’d have burned out long ago. People exist to vent and nitpick—that's just how it goes.

As for you, just keep moving forward and don't look back. You're doing great!
