Unfair penalty points.

Instead of actually penalizing Sea Princes for being a total troll, I’m the one getting hit with penalty points just for reporting her.

And of course, the moderator in charge is Apophis.

So, this user is playing dumb, acting like she didn't clearly write what she wrote.

Her little argument is basically:

It's perfectly fine to comment on this lady. What isn't okay is continuing to bother her with rude comments after she's already asked to be "left alone."

But look at the actual text:

when a middle-aged man approaches me and stares and/or makes a comment.

When we're talking about harassment, she's implying that just staring counts as harassment. The sentence says "stares and/or makes a comment." That means the comment is optional.

But instead of holding her accountable for trolling, they punish me for calling her out.

I have never seen such absolute nonsense in my life.

Look, the reasons have already been laid out. Once I have a chance to sit down with the moderators and hash out the specifics of what happened with her, maybe we can reopen it. But for now, while everyone is still worked up—it stays closed.

@Phiber, could you clarify what actually constitutes an insult under the "gloves" rule and what the penalty is? If insults are against the rules, they should be penalized. Using this vague "gloves" terminology just leaves too much room for interpretation and nonsense.

Look, the moderator already pointed you toward the specific thread meant for appealing warnings if you truly feel that your own sanctions were unjustified.

Honestly, though, I feel like we've already covered your situation via DM, so there's really no need to keep dragging this one case back out into the open. Every single one of the "controversial" regulars was kicked out ages ago, or they just lost the will to deal with this subforum entirely.

I didn't post much there, but I read. I wouldn't even call them controversial—just incredibly conservative. Once a group like that gets a foothold, they'll eventually start holding auditions for some Hollywood-style industry. That's fine, but they don't need to sell their souls to do it.

If by "controversial" you mean people who think they have a free pass to insult others, troll, or just be generally obnoxious, then honestly, I'm glad the troublemakers are gone. Besides, LJS remains one of the busiest boards here, so claims about people leaving don't really hold much water.

I actually wrote something very similar in both my posts on those two shut-down threads when I tried to send this: "I'm sorry, this thread is closed."

I honestly believe this topic has the potential to be one of the most serious discussions we have here. If we expand the scope from "street harassment" to "sexual harassment," we could foster an incredibly productive debate without falling into ad hominem attacks. In my view, it’s much easier to discipline the trolls—the ones who resort to insults and humiliation—than it is to just kill off an entire discussion where people want to speak up. Honestly, regarding how we manage these boards, it feels wrong to move this to another sub-forum given that we are talking about sexual harassment. This thread has real substance; it's easily one of the more important discussions on LJS.

It is rare to see a thread this foundational, where we reference a specific law or social norm right at the start, only to pivot into deep questions about sexual freedom, upbringing, and human sexuality. I truly believe this topic holds too much importance to be shut down. It has stirred up so much dust because the issue is even more sensitive and less defined than that famous piece of legislation we were debating before New Year's. As they say, there's no smoke without fire.🙂

You started this under the heading "street violence," with an intro describing women being harassed by cars, yet you spent the whole time trying to talk about "women making moves."
