This year, they're going out of their way to make sure awards are handed out with perfect mathematical balance—men, women, Black people, white people, Asians, Jews, the dead, the living, the old, the young... as if they care about the actual quality of the movies.

When you mention those women and Asians, I'm pretty sure you're talking about Chloe Zhao. And look, she totally earned that Golden Globes win for directing, and I really hope she picks up an Oscar too. You can talk all the trash you want about Nomadland, but the reality is that the film is just perfectly shot from the very first frame to the last.

One of the biggest stars on the planet, 58-year-old Tom Cruise, just handed back his three Golden Globes to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association in a massive move of protest, according to CNN.

He originally snagged those awards back in 1990 for Born on the Fourth of July, in 1997 for Jerry Maguire, and again in 2000 for Magnolia. He’s returning them now—according to unofficial reports from CNN—as a huge middle finger to the policies of the HFPA. This mysterious group of 87 members has been under fire from basically the entire world lately for shamelessly discriminating against Black actors and the LGBTQ+ community during nominations and voting.

And it’s not just Tom—NBC is also dealing a massive blow to what used to be a glamorous staple of the industry; they've been broadcasting the ceremony since 1996. "We believe the HFPA will undergo significant reform. However, changes of this scale take time and effort, and we truly believe the HFPA needs that time. As a result, we won't be broadcasting the Golden Globes 2022," NBC announced.

Scarlett Johansson is also standing firmly against the Golden Globes. “When an actor promotes a film, they're expected to show up at press conferences and award shows. In the past, that often meant facing sexist questions and inappropriate comments from certain HFPA members. It bordered on sexual harassment, which is why I’ve refused to participate in such events for years,” the famous actress wrote, while calling on sponsors to join the boycott.

At this point, the frustration from filmmakers, actors, producers, and the media has been boiling over for years—and since the HFPA refuses to change, some Hollywood heavyweights have decided it's time for a full-blown boycott.

It's predictable. Once the far-left took over Hollywood, they started calling all the shots—essentially "canceling" anyone who doesn't fit their mold. 🤣

Why can't some other network just pick up the broadcast rights?

"That’s why NBC won't be airing the Golden Globes 2022. We assume the organization is sticking to their plan, and we're hopeful we can get back to broadcasting the ceremony in January 2023," said the folks over at CBS—who usually handle the broadcast and shell out about $60 million a year for the rights.
