Lotus looks like they’ve got a lightning-fast car right now... might actually be outperforming Ferrari and McLaren. Red Bull is playing it smart and holding back, Mercedes is struggling, while Haas and Sauber look solid. I’ve also got a feeling Williams has a sleeper hit on their hands.
1. Red Bull
2. Lotus
3. McLaren
4. Ferrari
5. Williams
6. Mercedes
7. Sauber
8. Haas

just my two cents so far...

Solid callβ€”though if you ask me, Sauber’s outperforming Mercedes, and McLaren is basically neck-and-neck with Ferrari.

Look at this absolute legend who took advantage of Button being totally lost. He managed to snap a crystal-clear shot of the car's fine details just because it pulled up right in front of the Lotus pit stall, all while the crew from McLaren is sprinting around in the background...😍

Oh, I think we’ve actually covered this ground already.😳

Anyway, here is a little collection of photos from back when we were doing all that testing:

They shut his channel down... what a mess.
I noticed he listed "54bucks" on his profile page. I honestly never even caught that before... maybe that's where he's moving his content.

Combined testing times from Austin:

While Lotus hasn't exactly been burning rubber out there, the new Williams crew seems to be leading the pack in terms of track timeβ€”though Ferrari is sitting in second, breathing right down their necks. Isn't it fascinating how much mileage can tell you about a team's preparation?

Day one of testing in Austin is officially in the books.
Not much to report just yet. If there’s anything significant to uncover, it certainly won't be revealed on the very first day.

A few quick snapshots:

The F138 sporting that "line" on its nose:
image

The FW35 looks different without that "hole" near the exhaust:
image

Another interesting detail on the FW35β€”it seems the airflow isn't pushing straight through the axle, but rather venting slightly upward instead:

I’m really hoping this specific wheel nut design doesn't end up giving them headaches during tire changes.
It’s probably one of the main reasons they spent an entire day during the last round of testing just focusing on
perfecting their pit stop drills.

How much longer until we get startedβ€”does anyone know when that first race actually kicks off? I’ve completely lost track of time lately!

What a miserable downpour... does anyone know what the forecast looks like for the next couple of days? I really hope this rain isn't planning on sticking around.

Latest aero updates:
image

Clockwise, from left to right:
-the cooling slots below the gearbox oil intake are gone,
and honestly, that opening looks even smaller than before.
-they’ve enlarged the vent for hot air passing through the radiators.
-that slot next to the Hublot logo has been removed.

Here is how it looked during previous testing sessions.

Progress is being made. 😁

The question is, does anyone actually know what's going on here...

The fact that everything announced so far has actually happened is telling.
Right after they unveiled the car, they admitted the aero package was nowhere near what we'd see in Austin.
Then last week, they announced they’d show up to the final testing session with a new exhaust design.
And they did.

A few days back, I caught a quote from one of the team principals saying we shouldn't expect the full F138 spec before FP1 in Austin.

Still, it can't be any worse than last season, right? 😬 Back then, we were lagging by over a second per lap during those first few races.

Oh, and just so we aren't only talking about Ferrari... I read that Williams is prepping an exhaust style similar to Lotus or Red Bull for tomorrow. We'll see.

Of course the car is better than it was this time last year. That’s a given. The real question is how it actually stacks up against the rest of the field.

I’ve got a bad feeling about this.
