Let me school you on this for a second, though I didn't mean to. Napoleon actually had a fiancée long before Josephine came along. There’s a massive collection of love letters from both sides, so you can say he was genuinely loved. And don't even get me started on the proof of devotion we see with Maria Walewska—the way she looked after him while he was exiled and stripped of his power. She stayed by him even when he wasn't some powerful figure that women just flock to.

And yet another inaccurate claim I chose to ignore: Napoleon wasn't some kind of "messiah" either...
