mistyhound94 said:No subforum needs more than one chat. Honestly, I’d rather run a week-long experiment where only a handpicked group—people who aren't even in the main chat—could participate. Just to see how long it actually lasts before it gets flooded by all those losers lurking in the shadows, watching everyone else have fun. 🍿

And yeah, there's a massive amount of lurkers. We all started out that way; it's nothing new. Some people just decide to stick around for various reasons, some find a partner and vanish, and others just bail because the vibe isn't right or they're simply fed up. There are a hundred different reasons. And honestly, I don't think the USA needs another depressing chat room. We tried this stuff a long time ago, and it failed miserably. 🙂

Well, hope you guys have a blast over there. It's not like we're crying about it; we're just having fun without you. 🙂

I can easily pull together about 10 of us, so the thread would definitely stay active.
Maybe take it slow, though it doesn't really matter to us anyway. Like I said, it doesn't even have to be on the USA site.
The idea of a trial run isn't bad; we've got nothing to lose. If things go south, the thread just gets deleted.

I find myself a bit perplexed by the proposal to create a dedicated chat specifically for single US-ers; after all, such a space already exists over on the off-topic board, and the general consensus seems to be that it should remain there.

Regarding the issue of penalizing those who participate in it when they perhaps shouldn't, Boo provided some clarity on that matter:

Brenda Green62 said:I cannot, via the chat PDF, prevent forum members from participating in conversations.
One's relationship status simply cannot serve as a gatekeeping mechanism for accessing a chat room.

I certainly understand your frustration, though I don't have an immediate solution at hand. I would be quite interested to hear if any other members share these concerns; please, feel free to offer your thoughts or suggestions so we might collectively figure out how to ensure everyone feels truly welcome here on the US. 🙂

Fine, let them stay on the off. I just hope they watch their step so we aren't getting trolled quite as much, if all five of us can manage that. We didn't exactly move the needle this time, but hey, at least we gave it a shot.

In the USA, it’s probably better not to open up if the storm warnings say it's going to be bad.
Maybe we could run a little test just to see what happens, like mistyhound94 suggested, purely out of curiosity.

As for the other thing, I'm not going to push it. If people actually show interest, we'll figure something out later. 🙂

So what’s a "real US-er" to you?

I’m barely hanging out in the chat these days, but feel free to hit my inbox if you actually want to talk.
We can wrap this thread up since there isn't much left to say.

Honey Sun... I still remember when you first started posting and jumping into every single thread about your struggles. Honestly? Just ignore the paired-up folks... that's exactly what I do!

Jeremy Johnson18 said:Hey there, forum admins.

Since they’ve completely trashed the Lonely Heart scene by flooding it with all those random meetup and party threads, us real US-ers are basically left with nowhere to go.
If I remember correctly, the US was originally designed to be some kind of sanctuary for singles. Fast forward to today, and like 90% of the people there are paired up and playing house—most of them don't even have anything to do with that PDF.
It’s reached the point where certain people just wanted to break away and set up a "real American chat" over in the off-topic section, but even there, the trolls keep crawling out of the woodwork to harass us.

Can we please just have one tiny corner of this forum where we can actually hang out at the end of the day without all these coupled-up, blissfully happy people rubbing salt in our wounds?

Pise:
Lonely Heart
Lonely Hearts Club Band

It doesn't say:
Lonely Heart
The single Hearts Club band connection.

A relationship just isn't a magic fix-all. It can't check every single box or satisfy every single need a person has. Honestly, you can be right in the middle of a committed partnership and still feel like a total Lonely Heart. ☕

Stop obsessing over everyone else's relationship statuses on this forum. That’s not your problem. You need to deal with your own demons instead. Forget the chat rooms—focus on yourself for once. No amount of online banter or some random single guy is ever going to fill that void you're carrying around. ☕

Donna Watson65 said:Look, kid, I actually "escaped" this forum for a while because people like you ruined everything. You didn't just mess up the official US chat; you trashed the 40+ thread too—which was supposed to be our little sanctuary for people who actually have their lives together. But somehow, you still managed to barge into our conversations whenever you felt like it, even though you didn't meet any of the criteria and, frankly, you didn't belong there.

It’s pretty much a foregone conclusion now: the 40+ chat is about to merge with your infantile, zero-stimulus micro-niche. Honestly, any semblance of intellectual variety that was actually worth nurturing has basically vanished, all because you decided to colonize the entire PDF.

It’s not like we didn't complain. Honestly, I think even the boss expressed his frustration through some sort of cryptic, poetic nonsense. But it didn't matter. We spent all that time repainting the whole damn place just to end up retreating to wherever the hell we ended up.

The vibe is way better now. People are actually hanging out outdoors and having decent chats online. I’m not delusional enough to think the 40+ crowd is ever going to reclaim their old "home base," but that doesn't mean killjoys like you need to have every ridiculous demand met.

If you think everyone over 40 on this forum is dead, you’re wrong. You're just gone. But let's be honest—it’s not like we were lacking in the mutual mockery department. You guys have spent years hunting down every single person over 40 who dared to talk about anything other than wine connoisseurship. It's like trying to have a conversation at a Napa Valley tasting without someone bringing up vintage profiles. I don't know what level you're talking about. You haven't given me anything to work with here. Not exactly a hallmark of intelligence, is it? Public chat.. 🙏 🙂
Talking about food, pizza, and sex is just rotting my brain. We were discussing... Fine. Wine or K-plus Lowenbrau. Smart people know how to eat, drink, and handle their business in bed. The rest? They just sit around philosophizing. 🙂

I didn't jump in myself, just lurked and read along. Honestly, some of those threads were actually pretty interesting. 🙂

Honestly, my partner and I (both employees) totally fell for it—we got sucked into one of those "Jobs and Career" threads where everyone is complaining about how impossible it is to find work. We actually started trying to give them unsolicited advice, telling them to "do this" or "try that," and we ended up just infuriating everyone. We were completely out of touch with their reality, acting like we understood what they were going through when we clearly didn't.

We were looking at some career advice PDF and ended up lecturing people on topics where everyone was already complaining about how hard it is to find a job. We started acting like experts, telling them "do this" and "do that," and we just pissed them off by acting like we didn't get how much they were struggling.

What kind of hentai is that in your avatar?

Benjamin Taylor90 said:If you mean some of the 40+ crowd on this forum died off, yeah, they did. But it’s not like there wasn't enough banter among the rest of you older folks. You basically cornered every 40+ person who didn't want to talk about wine because it wasn't "high" level. Not exactly a sign of intelligence on the public chat. 🙏 🙂
Talking about food, pizza, and sex just fries my brain. We were talking about fine wine or K-plus Lowenbra. Smart people eat, drink, and have sex; everyone else just... philosophizes. 🙂

I didn't jump in, but I was reading, and there were actually some interesting debates. 🙂

Honestly, they were worse than kids. Six of them basically took over the whole chat with the moderator's help. It was an absolute joke on an epic scale. If they actually held themselves to any standard, I wouldn't say anything, but I remember how they used to pick on anyone older who disagreed—it was tragicomic. Man, it felt like being stuck in a damn hornet's nest. That's me, being primitive. Thank God primitivism always beats intellect, otherwise they would've realized there only needs to be one chat. Because why bother typing about expensive wine or whether a pizza has mushrooms or not. 🍿

If they had actually maintained any semblance of standards, I wouldn't say anything—but I vividly remember how they used to tear down anyone older who dared to disagree. It was tragicomic, really. It felt like being stuck in some low-rent dive bar just trying to survive. I'm a simple man, but even I could see the dysfunction. Thank God primitive instincts always triumph over intellect; they realized there could only be one way of thinking in that chat. Because, let’s face it, it wasn't like we were having deep discussions about vintage Bordeaux or whether a pizza should have mushrooms or not. 🍿

Who was the moderator back then? 🍿

Honestly, this subforum has never looked better, IMO. I’d go as far as to say it might be the only one left on this site that actually lives up to its name.
The crowd here is mostly seasoned veterans—people who spent most of their lives hanging out on this forum feeling some weird urge to bond with the losers at the corner dive bar. Sure, some of them eventually found a partner and moved on, but why should that disqualify them from being part of the club?

It’s honestly pretty shady how they’re framing this as some big issue. You’ve got an author acting all high and mighty, basically discriminating against someone just because they dared to imagine a life where they actually paired up with someone. How long would some overbearing mother-in-law from a suburban HOA last here before she started demanding people get off "her" topic?

And really, who’s stopping the author from starting a thread to deal with his own umisliti, which I'm pretty sure is just a lonely heart? Especially if he claims there are others like him. It would be a decent way for him to show a shred of personality and actually talk through his issues. So far, all we’ve seen is his withered heart. He hasn't added anything useful to the conversation; if anything, he’s dragged it down, all while having the nerve to call himself a real outcast.

I'm not going to call them out publicly right now. That’s just bad form. But honestly, the USA hit rock bottom back then. Now we've got this bunny persona acting like this whole topic is a joke, even though honey sun already knows it's a farce and mocks it himself. I don't get why the mods haven't locked this thread yet. 🤔

It seems like a nice way for him to show some personality and maybe get a chance to talk through his issues. So far, we've only really seen his stifled heart. He hasn't added much to the quality of the discussion—actually, it's been quite the opposite—yet he still has the nerve to call himself a true outsider.

Bravo, bunny!
I second this.

Who is going to stop Sunny from opening threads about loneliness or whatever else they want to talk about?
Nobody. 🤷

I’ve been part of every decent debate in that chat. So, all things considered, I'm at a solid zero right now. But honestly, I can admit it's tough to raise the bar when you guys spend all day just bickering. You've been doing this forever, and I'll be the first to admit hell I can't help much here.

Especially when we get comments like:

It's hard to improve on this level of intellect.

That's how you can just cherry-pick posts out of context until morning to make someone look bad. The bunny actually made a good point showing how ridiculous all this mental gymnastics is—whining about some supposed persecution like it's a march to Waterloo.

Maybe Sunny is just worried that people like bunny will try to group them together.🤔

The man simply stated his opinion—there's a theory that a forum should provide a space where one is allowed to be miserable. 🤔

Personally, I disagree with every single one of them.
A forum shouldn't necessarily be a place for people to wallow, but it also shouldn't be a place where people are attacked for having a different perspective or for trolling.
Humor isn't universal; if someone like Zeke can't wrap his head around honey sun, then perhaps he should just leave him alone?🤔

@Nicholas Kelly3/">@@Nicholas Kelly3, look, there aren't any actual threads—Sunny is just naturally drawing attention to himself/having fun. 😁
The guy doesn't live in Washington, D.C., nor is he commuting on the subway.
He surely has a different perspective than the rest of us.
But that ought to be fine; the forum should remain open to everyone, even the trolls—we shouldn't be privatizing it.
There is always room for improvement. 🧐

At the end of the day, Honeybee—whether they mean to or not—is basically acting as a walking advertisement for the United States as this premier destination for entertainment.
It’s all marketing.
That is precisely why I can't get behind Zeke’s "whatever floats your boat" mentality.
The United States ought to be a bastion of tolerance, not some sort of privatized PDF file. 🍿
