Connecting laptop to TV via HDMI

So, I picked up a new laptop just a few days ago and grabbed this driver https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/dow...539041. But here's the thing—whenever I try to hook the laptop up to my TV, I get absolutely nothing. Like, zero picture. The TV actually recognizes that something is plugged in, though; the HDMI2 option on my TV stays hidden until I plug the laptop in, which is kind of weird, but then once I switch to it, the screen is just pitch black. It won't project anything at all. I checked the display settings on the laptop, and it’s acting like there's only one monitor connected, plus it keeps throwing this error saying "your PC cannot project to another stream." Any ideas? I'd really appreciate some help if anyone knows how to fix this. For context, I'm running a Dell Ideapad s340-15apii

Maybe try Command + P??

Man, I tried to get this thing working, but it keeps throwing that "you cannot connect PC to another screen" error at me.

Try hitting Command + F3 if there’s a little monitor icon on your function keys, or maybe Command + F10? That should trigger the secondary display.

seriously, just try dropping your laptop screen resolution down a bit
