Hey,

Like the title says, I need a build for some occasional gaming and multimedia stuff, budget is around $1667. Needs to be from somewhere like Newegg or Best Buy. I’ve been totally out of the loop when it comes to hardware lately, so I could really use some help here.

Thanks!

Does that price point include a monitor as well?

My bad, forgot to mention—that doesn't include the peripherals!

So, I just hopped onto the Best Buy site and noticed they’ve got the Ryzen 3 1200 priced at $240. I was staring at my screen like, "Wait, what the hell?" because everywhere else, this thing is sitting at 400. 😁

Is there actually some kind of reason why it has to be Newegg or Best Buy? Honestly, those places feel overpriced and their customer service is a total nightmare when you actually need to return something.

The only thing worth getting from them is the Ryzen 3600 because dropping $467 on a Ryzen 2600 is just criminal.

I've been attempting to put together a build featuring an Intel Core I5 9400 f box using Newegg, but it’s proving to be quite difficult. To make the numbers work, I'd have to settle for a subpar GPU and only 8GB of DDR4 RAM. There really aren't any sensible budget CPU alternatives available right now, and according to Peter Green, the issue lies with Best Buy's current selection... My only real option would be to pivot to an APU, but honestly, it feels like a waste of money when you can find a 6c12t chip elsewhere for a much better price.
