How do I delete my user profile?

Hey there.

I’m asking the admins to go ahead and permanently delete my profile from this forum. I don't have any other accounts... just doing this because it's what I want.

Profiles aren't just deleted on a whim, whether you ask for it or not.

Why can't accounts be deactivated here like they are on every other standard forum across the globe?

It seems like personal data privacy just isn't a priority around here.

Saying "don't log in" is a ridiculous response... you should simply honor a user's request if they want out.
What difference does it make if a few people decide to leave this site entirely?

I suspect they aren't deleting profiles just to keep the user count inflated—you know, giving advertisers a distorted, unrealistic view of the forum's reach.

Given the privacy laws we have here, you could always file a complaint with the FEC and see what happens... though, honestly? Probably nothing.

We've already settled that email addresses usually count as personal data. But here’s the thing: USA privacy laws only apply to companies actually handling personal data. Data privacy regulations cover every single action taken regarding personal data. It's all laid out in the law. Per Article 4, subsection 2, processing personal data means any operation done with that info, whether it's automated or not. Data collection examples include gathering, recording, organizing, structuring, storing, and using that data. When companies do any of that with email addresses, they're processing personal data. And if they are, they have to follow the law.
