Can't copy files to my USB drive

I've got this mp4 video file sitting at 4.35 GB that I need to get over to a friend
I popped in a 16 GB thumb drive and tried to move the video onto it, but I keep getting hit with this error message: “The file ... is too large for the destination file system.“
I even went ahead and decided to format the USB stick, but it’s still giving me the exact same trouble
Does anyone have any idea what the catch is here?

Try formatting it as NTFS instead
The FAT32 system just won't support any individual files larger than 4GB...

Does anyone here have experience or know how a TV handles an NTFS drive via USB?
Specifically, I've got an older Panasonic ST50 plasma... which currently plays an 8GB thumb drive formatted as FAT32 just fine. 🙂

It also picks up my external hard drive with files larger than 4GB—so I'm assuming that's running on NTFS. 🤔
The only thing is, unlike the thumb drive which shows everything instantly, the external drive takes about a minute to load the file list.

Just trying to make sure I don't brick the USB or make it useless for what I actually need it for.
I mostly just use it to watch NBA games. 😁

Your best bet for an answer is probably digging through the manual for that old Panasonic plasma.
Or you could just use trial and error. Move the data off the stick, format it to NTFS, and see what happens. If it fails, just format it back to FAT32.

Just a heads-up though: the whole "trial and error" method might end up taking two or three minutes longer than it took you to write this post.

Anyone with an older Plasma TV that has a USB port have any firsthand experience? Specifically, does it read a USB stick formatted with Microsoft without any lag or issues? 🙂
I’ve run into a bit of a "hiccup" though 😛 ... saving takes forever (especially compared to how fast it saves to an external hard drive).

And then it just sits there for another 2 minutes—so for a file slightly larger than 5GB, we're looking at about 10 minutes total.
Is this actually normal, or ...?
Both the USB stick and my PC port are 3.0
