I suppose because of that, I've decided I might actually give it a watch 😁.

Decent, fun enough movie. Production design and sound were top-tier.👍👍Just don't get why they cast two Black actors when this is supposed to be about WWII.🤔
Honestly, there’s no way they would have even been in the same league as that elite 101st Airborne Division, let alone commanding them.☕
The woman with the flamethrower? Total badass.👍

In all honesty, there isn't a soul alive who could even step foot in the presence of that elite 101st Airborne Division, let alone dream of actually commanding them...☕

I honestly find that to be a massive load of nonsense as well. I mean, the idea of a Black paratrooper serving in the 101st Airborne Division feels even less plausible than some ridiculous scenario where you could bring the dead back to life using nothing but tar...

Actually, since we’re on the subject, there was this specific Black paratrooper unit back then—the 555th Parachute Infantry Battalion—but instead of being deployed to actual combat zones, they were sent all over the States to fight forest fires... It wasn't until late '47 that they were finally integrated into the 82nd Airborne...

Like I said before, the trailer actually looked pretty good. 😍
So I figured I'd just catch it at the theater once it drops. 🙄

The opening is killer, but after about thirty minutes, the whole thing just goes off the rails. It’s not horror, it’s not action... it’s nothing. Just a bunch of pointless little character dramas. And the villain? Completely unbelievable. Honestly, it was a huge letdown.
I was expecting something like Dawn of the Dead with zombies or something actually intense. Instead, I got absolutely nothing.

Still, since we're talking about it, there was one Black parachute unit back then (the 555th Parachute Infantry Battalion), but instead of combat, they just sent them to fight forest fires all over the US. They weren't even integrated into the 82nd Airborne until late '47.

I watched some documentary about Black soldiers in WWII, and this guy mentioned they might have been there, but strictly as cleaners or cooks. Usually, they weren't even allowed near the fighting.
boldano🤣🤣
The sergeant would've made way more sense as the lead than this guy.

If you set aside the ridiculous racial stereotypes, the movie is actually decent enough to kill some time—honestly, it was better than I anticipated.

Now, it really comes down to how much you’ve grown accustomed to being treated like a bunch of clueless American idiots by people in Washington who think we don't have the slightest clue what's going on in our own backyard... 🙂

I honestly don't get why that Black actor is bothering everyone so much; it’s got absolutely nothing to do with the actual movie. 😁

It kind of reminds me of this buddy of mine who trashed The Dark Knight Rises because he thought it was too unrealistic, and then, like, two days later, he's suddenly raving about James Bond Skyfall.

I didn't go in expecting much—just looking for some mindless entertainment to zone out to—and honestly, that’s exactly what I got. There were a few scenes that actually gave me a good laugh.

Honestly, I’d have a much easier time following some sergeant as the main lead instead of this guy.

No matter how fantastic a story might be... even if it leans toward being silly or totally absurd... a little bit of historical credibility never hurts. What’s the logic behind suddenly dropping a handful of Black soldiers into the ranks of the Screaming Eagles when it feels so unrealistic? Is it just political correctness?...

It’s a similar issue with the plot of U-571 but I suppose that one passes more easily because there were actually about 50 Black sailors serving in the US Navy during WWII...

The full desegregation of the US military didn't truly kick off until late 1947, and it was actually the paratroopers—specifically the 82nd Airborne or the All-American All-American division—who were among the first to integrate Black soldiers as complete equals...

And? What is that image supposed to convey?...

There is absolutely no way a Black soldier would have been serving in the 101st, the 82nd, or any other airborne unit (not even the British ones) on D-Day...

Speaking of which, I remember watching a History Channel documentary about Black service members on D-Day, where one veteran—a man tasked with launching barrage balloons from the beach—recounted how he tried to enlist in the 101st, only to be met with questions like: "Go check the training grounds... do you see a single Black man there?" And he just told them to get lost...

If you guys are actually interested in the real history regarding Black paratroopers during WWII:

Maybe Black soldiers were actually in the mix too.🤷

Personally, I thought the Black guy was killer. Honestly, there’s nothing quite like watching someone lose it and see those whites of their eyes pop out like that.🐔

For crying out loud, they had to go and cast a Black actor in a zombie flick... honestly, who cares? It’s not like my status as a member of the 101st Airborne Division changes anything about the plot. 😁

It was actually a solid film; I was fully expecting some total low-budget trash. A lot of the scenes really gave me flashbacks to RTCW and just those classic WWII FPS games in general... Not bad, all things considered.
