Windows business licenses

My apologies if this isn't quite the right subforum for this kind of thing.

The firm I work for is running an unlicensed version of Windows 7 Ultimate. Because we rely on this one specific legacy program, upgrading to Windows 10 or even attempting a system backup isn't really on the table right now. Since you can't just go out and buy Windows 7 anymore—I've only seen these sketchy licenses floating around random sites or eBay—what’s the actual protocol here to make sure the company stays compliant during an audit? Is there any legitimate way to still purchase a license and properly register the OS we currently have installed?

Yeah, you really need to have a business account for that, otherwise it isn't legal.

Plus there's usually a Windows sticker with the serial number stuck right onto the case or the laptop.

Look, you aren't getting the sticker if you just buy it online.

There are firms out there that sell "refurbished" Windows licenses, or you could look into quicksupport.com and software-deals.com (which usually provide R-1 invoices).

It’s not necessary, and honestly, he isn't even looking for it or using it anyway.

What happens if I pick up a PC that comes with legitimate Windows—say, something like Minix—does that actually mean I'm cleared to use it at my firm?

What kind of computer is Minix exactly?
