A colleague is dealing with a PC issue. Every time he refreshes his desktop wallpaper, it turns completely black before eventually reverting back to the original image after a while.
Does anyone know how to fix this 😁? We ran scans with every program we have, but nothing works. Even after a scan shows everything is clean, the screen starts fading to black again after about five minutes. 😁
I need some help here. 😁

Which version of Windows are we looking at here? And what’s the hardware setup like? It might also be worth checking when the OS was last a clean install...
Have you given tools like AdwCleaner, Malwarebytes, or Malwarebytes a shot yet? Also, have you tried doing a fresh reinstall of your graphics drivers?

Windows 10

Older hardware. Not ancient, just older.

No reinstall. I know it's a virus.

Tried AVG, Norton, Malwarebytes, HitmanPro, and Spywarebytes.

It sounds like you’ve got some nasty malware on your hands—if that's the case, just wipe the hard drive and start fresh. It’s honestly the easiest way to clear out all that junk.

Any help would be appreciated 😁

Is it just the wallpaper changing, or does the whole screen go black so he can't actually do anything?

Only the wallpaper changes. macOS is activated. 😁
