Dear Nicole, Pringles, and the ladies and gentlemen of the moderation team,

I need to ask just one quick question to make sure I don't end up with any warnings or bans on the off-topic boards, especially following those new rules Nicole drafted.
Are we actually allowed to mention these new clone moderators by their usernames—treating them like regular forum members—or is that going to land us a strike for "commenting on moderation" or whatever they're calling it now?
I noticed that our respected colleague Anita was already handed a warning just for mentioning those specific handles.

So, I’m wondering: what exactly are the rules here so I can stay in line?

We have a dedicated thread in the off-topic section where we discuss what to think about forum users, so does that mean I'll get flagged if I drop one of these moderator names and someone else replies with their opinion on them?😳
For instance, if someone mentions Diamond Dog, and I reply with Pringles, or Nicole, or honestly, whoever—just as a joke... will I be slapped with a penalty for that?

Look, I am sincerely asking for some clarification regarding these moderation policies. I just want to avoid accidentally breaking a rule I don't fully understand.

Thanks!

I just have one question: are yellow cards being used as sanctions again? Does this mean the rule Dimitri introduced recently—where cards on Apple were gone and you just got an immediate ban instead—is no longer in effect?

We’ve loosened up Dimitri's rule for the time being—strictly because we were flying solo—but now that our numbers have picked up, we’re reverting to the standard ban system. Just a heads-up: penalties will escalate for those who make a habit of breaking them.
Regarding comments directed at the moderation team, there is absolutely zero tolerance here; there is simply no valid reason to be discussing the moderators. If a moderator decides to jump into a thread to participate, they will be treated as just another forum user.

Nicole, can someone please explain if we aren't even allowed to play by our own rules anymore? Like, do we only get to play exactly how the moderators tell us to?

Honestly, I’m just shocked. I don't know about you guys, but to me, this whole thing is nothing short of a tragicomedy...

I am simply asking one person on this forum to realize that we are talking about an Offtopic PDF. It is quite literally just a pile of digital clutter that can be wiped clean every two weeks without anyone even noticing it's gone.
Handing out warnings and bans just because someone mentions that a user might be a clone is nothing short of a circus. Let’s be honest: we all have clones, we all know exactly who is who, and nobody is even trying to hide it. So, if I point out that Jessica Grant is actually Flora, do I get banned? Or if someone calls me Dario, is that an immediate ban too?
Seriously, what is wrong with you people?
If we are such a nuisance to you, why not just issue permanent bans to everyone, lock down this entire PDF, and call it a day? You would solve your little problem instantly. There is absolutely no need to start investigations into moderator clones and stage this entire circus you've been putting on lately. Honestly, I feel like I have the FBI breathing down my neck just when I come here to mess around and relax. Every single post is scrutinized to see if it's ambiguous, if it's a provocation, or if I happen to mention that someone is a clone.🙏
hey Pringles, go ahead and slap a warning on me right now—you can even do it with a clone for all I care. It makes no difference to me.

Maybe we could all just try being a little less possessive to start with, shall we?

Possessive about what?

When I ask "what to think about forum user" regarding Nicole Vaughn70 and Nicole Vaughn70, a moderator pops up to tell me it breaks the rules...

Maybe consider what we're actually talking about first...

So I assume you were thinking of that day when Anita asked if she'd be warned, and someone here told her no.🍿

What am I even asking when I post "what to think about forum user: Nicole Vaughn70 and Nicole Vaughn70" and then some moderator swoops in to tell me I'm breaking the rules?

Maybe try actually considering the context of what we're discussing for once?

Sister, please, look at this.
You're posting on a forum that happens to have certain rules.
Do I personally like all those rules?
Khmmmm, I'd say no.
But that’s my own damn problem, not the forum's.
Then again, maybe I'm just an idiot who thinks all this nonsense actually makes sense.

This whole PDF is a complete joke.

I honestly can't stand being treated like some kind of Teletubby. Not by the mods, and definitely not by certain forum users.

So, I'd rather just say goodbye to him...

Honestly, my common sense won't let me sit here and be treated like some kind of Teletubby. I'm not taking it from the moderators, and I'm certainly not taking it from random forum users.

So, I think I'll just say goodbye to him instead...

Look, how can I even put this...
the choice is yours.🕺

but that's my issue, not the forum's issue
honestly, I'm just dim, so it all makes sense to me

What rules are we even talking about in the "what to think about forum user" thread on that PDF called off?
Hey, it's the "what to think about forum user" thread, not some political debate about military intervention in Syria! What are you even on about? 🙏

Don't play games, Nicole, seriously... I'm telling you this as a friend, man to man... it's just... 👍

Hey, we're talking about the "what to think about forum user" thread—I wasn't posting in the politics section asking for opinions on military intervention in Syria! What are you even rambling about? 🙏

Don't play dumb, Nicole Vaughn70, please. I'm being totally friendly here! 👍

You're just ignoring the fact that even stuff labeled "off" on this forum still follows certain rules
And I'm only playing along because that's exactly what you're doing, my friend.

Exactly. I am fully behind this new way of doing things. Like my colleague Hannah Mitchell4 always says, you need order! And if I can add my two cents: you reap exactly what you sow. Period.

I don't really follow these threads where people debate what to think about forum user types, but I agree that handing out bans over this stuff—or anywhere on the Offtopic section—is nonsense. It’s like punishing someone for tossing a cigarette butt while the entire forest is already going up in flames.😁

Hannah Brown7 said:What are actually the rules for the "what to think about forum user" thread in the PDF titled Offtopic?

The rules exist to ensure that specific thread isn't used as a shield for attacking other users—nor is it a playground for those obsessed with cloning theories.

They are quite straightforward, brief, and—most importantly—not subject to change. And they apply to you just as strictly as they do to everyone else.

They are perfectly clear, concise, and non-negotiable. And they apply to you just as much as they apply to everyone else.

So, let me get this straight. If someone asks me what to think about forum user XY, am I supposed to just spout nothing but praise, even if I don't actually feel anything positive toward them? 🤣

Honestly, bravo. With this move today, you've reached an unprecedented level of absurdity. The mastermind behind this idea deserves an award. 🤣

Sorry, but I have a question regarding the clone rule because the logic seems fuzzy. Which specific clone are we forbidden from outing? Suppose a serious user posts on the off-topic board using handles B, C, and D.
Does someone break a rule if they claim D=A (essentially outing their "official" handle)? Or is it also a violation if they claim C=D?

They're pretty straightforward, short, and final. They apply to you just like everyone else.

I don't get how asking what to think about forum user Nicole Vaughn70 and Bosančeros counts as an insult. Then a moderator jumps in telling me to follow the rules...

There's a similar thread on Reddit where nobody ever gets told to "follow the rules" for saying something like that.

Can someone explain this to me? Which rule am I breaking, and how is this an insult?

As for the clone stuff, almost everyone down there talks about them; we're all basically clones at this point. Hannah Mitchell4 was just asking what that actually means. Is someone going to get a warning just for mentioning Misterium and Sarah?

I don't need a moderator teaching me how to talk to people. That's more about my own upbringing and manners, so you don't need to worry about me...

Just so we’re all on the same page, the rule from the introductory post regarding how we talk about one another was decided in consultation with me: insults, provocations, or doxxing people's profiles are strictly prohibited everywhere on this site, including over on Microsoft, regardless of what thread you're in. You’re more than welcome to share a "negative opinion," provided you can do it without being a jerk—if you can't manage that, then honestly, just skip it. Or, you know, take a breather and just accept the penalty without making a massive scene about it.

When you're talking to other members, please use the username they are currently using in that specific thread. It’s really just basic decency, and doing anything else is essentially the same as leaking private information, no matter who thinks they "know" who someone is.

I truly believe these rules are crystal clear and make perfect sense. No single thread should ever be unmoderated, or at least, it shouldn't be, so there's no such thing as an "off-topic" zone where anything goes. You can chat, joke around, and mess with each other as much as you want, but there still have to be boundaries.

One more thing: looking at the reports coming in to the moderators, it seems some people aren't happy about having other usernames mentioned. Just to be clear, this decision wasn't made because anyone was complaining—even if some of you think that's the case. People have their feelings, and if it bothers them, they have every right to feel that way. The moderators are simply here to make sure the threads stay relaxed and welcoming for everyone who actually wants to participate in good faith.
