I’m thinking back to this book I picked up about 20 years ago while I was living abroad. I can’t recall the author’s name, but you could tell the guy actually lived through everything he was writing about.
Basically, the whole book is about how he managed to save his own life.
All I really remember is him rubbing his legs down every single night and wrapping them up in something. If my memory serves me right, the main ingredient he mentioned was found in flaxseed oil—specifically those linoleic or linolenic acids.
You can easily eat food-grade flaxseed oil every day drizzled over some fresh cheese; pairing it with cheese might even help out with certain health issues.

For vein prevention, you should use compression stockings or sleeves that cover the whole leg. Don't wear them to sleep, though—just use them while you're on the move. Plus, wearing them helps provide a sort of built-in massage since your muscles do the work as you walk.
Detralex is a medication containing flavonoids that supposedly strengthens veins, and honestly, it's way cheaper in Canada than it is here in the States.
Some people also suggest taking Aspirin for heart health as a way to help with veins too.
I read somewhere that whenever you get a chance to lie down, you should prop up one leg, then the other, and give them a good shake. Hold them up for a bit, maybe repeat it a few times. It helps the blood drain out of your legs, so when you finally stand up, you've got fresh blood circulating back in. That’s supposed to be the key.
