Hi there

I popped back onto the forum today and was poking around the settings—it’s surprising how much of it is still stuck in English...
Since this is an American forum, I have to admit it caught me a bit off guard that it hasn't been fully translated yet :/

So, if you're interested, I might be able to lend a hand with some translations? Just thinking it could make things a bit more user-friendly for everyone navigating the site.
Just a friendly suggestion 🙂

That’s a solid concept, but you might want to hire an editor first if you actually want people to take it seriously.

Look, I’ve spent plenty of time on various forums in the past—handling translations and drafting TOS documents (you know, those Terms of Service agreements that absolutely nobody actually reads). My casual forum posting style isn't exactly representative of how I handle formal translations or official documentation.

And one more thing... I still maintain that slightly flawed American English is preferable to broken English... (though please, feel free to correct my translation if I happen to slip up somewhere)

Anyway, the concept itself is solid enough 😉

There have been plenty of inquiries regarding why half of our forum's sections seem to be conducted in English, yet I fear that even when we account for the technical hurdles—things like server optimization or SEO—and the specific content requirements, such as dedicated subforums for retirees or specialized scientific disciplines—this issue remains on the absolute periphery of our discussions.

Sure, but if it’s even an option—why wouldn't we? Look, from a user's perspective, when new people show up, they aren't even looking for a search bar, and the server situation is... well, what it is. If there's a way to fix something that actually adds value, why wouldn't you? 😉 Plus, having American available across the entire forum would be a massive win in my book. Especially for those who don't speak English. They can handle the server issues, sure. But this? This makes things much harder. 🙂
But hey, it's your call; just a suggestion. 😉

I get it—you're tackling one fire at a time, and that makes sense. But couldn't this be an extra step? 🙂
With the current resources available—honestly, it's a long shot. But if someone else steps in to help, don't waste your own bandwidth; if it works out, it's a win. 😉 😁

Honestly, nobody is even trying to fix anything, seriously... what is wrong with you?

Nobody is doing any technical maintenance or fixing a single thing on this forum—literally nothing has been done here for years. I’m not an admin anymore, but I was one for eight years, and honestly, one of the main reasons I stepped down was because absolutely no one was looking after the site or addressing how broken things have been behind the scenes for ages. It’s just sitting here, stuck in its ways, basically waiting to die a natural death.

It’s actually a freaking miracle—honestly, it deserves some kind of serious scientific study—how a forum in this state can still be alive and kicking in this day and age, and how there are still enough idiots showing up to keep it going.

Well, while this crowd is mostly made up of the "older" generation—the kind that isn't quite ready for Facebook, and honestly, probably why this forum even exists—since we actually have one here, I figured I might as well reach out. It wouldn't hurt to ask for a little assistance if anyone is willing to lend a hand 😉

Nobody is doing any technical upkeep on this forum. Not one thing. No repairs, no updates, absolutely nothing has been done to this site for years. I haven't been an admin for eight years now, and honestly, one of the main reasons I stepped down was because nobody was taking care of the place—it’s been a total mess behind the scenes for ages. It just sits there, exactly how it is, basically waiting to die a slow, natural death.

It’s a genuine miracle, really. It’s probably worth some serious scientific study how a forum in this state can still be breathing, existing, and somehow attracting idiots who still bother to show up.

killed 🙏

Why is it always the case that people get all worked up about a language they don't even speak?

It’s the same pattern everywhere you look; think about those folks who claim to be hard of hearing but somehow still insist on being the loudest singers in the choir.

And now, it seems I am the one under fire. 😳
I’m locking this thread. Look, I get it—some people might find what you’ve mentioned quite uplifting—but it doesn't seem like anyone is going to have the bandwidth to deal with this given everything else that is currently falling apart.
