Getting locked out of TV trivia games

There’s been this incredibly intense, heated debate going on over on the forums lately—specifically regarding "Jeopardy! being way too niche—questions only ever coming from that tiny circle of 'quiz enthusiasts'" which was originally kicked off by Guggenheim.
The thread got locked today, even though everyone seemed to be keeping things civil and staying on topic without any unnecessary drama or off-topic tangents. Why does that happen? Any ideas?

The thread was locked because you guys couldn't just discuss things and share opinions without constantly attacking one another or flooding the mods' inboxes. We're going to clean it up, and in the meantime, maybe you could all take a moment to figure out how to have a conversation without trying to disqualify everyone else's input.

I'll unlock this thread, but consider this the final straw. This whole "keep it civil and stop the bickering" rule is a joke when we're actually dealing with constant fighting, insults, and endless accusations... plus the dozens of reports hitting our desks every single day, which, unfortunately, involves pretty much everyone in this discussion.
