Honestly, threads often outgrow their creators.
If a discussion turns into a few solid debates or even some decent back-and-forth, the thread stays—regardless of whether the original poster was just trolling—as long as the conversation hasn't been totally trashed. In fact, those kinds of discussions usually end up spawning entirely new threads later on.

That’s actually an old report that was already dealt with back then; the user ended up getting a 100-point custom penalty for it.
