Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone could clarify who actually has access to my electronic medical records right now. Also, I'm curious about who is authorized to update them—is that process different from how it used to be?

On top of that, does this mean I can log in to view my own records myself? And would I be able to see a log of who else has been looking at my file?

I am curious about who currently has access to my electronic health records, and specifically, who is authorized to input data into them (assuming this process differs from what we have used previously).

Furthermore, is there a way for me to view my own medical file, and more importantly, can I see an audit log of who has accessed it?

Yes, you can check the access logs. You also have the ability to restrict which specialists can view your files, though your primary care physician will always maintain access.
In practice, no one "writes" directly into the central portal; instead, the information is pulled from the databases of your local clinics and hospitals. While you can access this through the federal health portal, please note it doesn't pull legacy data—it only reflects records updated since October 1, 2016.

To be clear, access is restricted strictly to medical staff, provided you grant them permission, with the exception of the primary care physician.

But here's the catch: nobody actually "writes" anything directly into it. It just pulls data from your primary care clinic and the hospitals. If you check your MyChart portal, it won't pull your old history; it only shows records from, say, October 1st, 2016, onwards.

I opened mine up the other day and could see everything from the start of the year—just stuff from my GP, the dentist, and the lab, plus my prescription history. But as for any actual hospital records? Absolutely nothing.

I'm trying to figure out who actually has access to my digital medical records right now. Who can view them, and who has the authority to update them (assuming it works differently than this initial entry)?

Same question here. Do I need to go through my local clinic to get this set up, or is everything already available on my MyChart portal?

It’s built into the infrastructure, though I suspect not all hospitals have been fully integrated into the network yet.
